I chose to remain alcohol-free for the rest of the evening, so I decided to stay away from those infernal fruit drinks and settled for the bottled water. It's painful to watch how a tiny amount of liquor could propel the young ones to run amok around the hall, but of course it's clean fun and nothing offensive, still mindful of others' welfare. I took two bottles and headed over to Mia but I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw her chattering with her friends. In a little span of time, I'm pleased at her progress in widening her circle of friends, knowing who really cares and who's hurtful. I can never deny this new found freedom of hers, not when it's finally shaping her self-worth and confidence that she hadn't all those years. I'm so proud of her.

So, here I am, stuck with Jin while the young ones decided to take over the dance floor. Of course they wouldn't let this night end without breaking bones or tearing muscles, not literally. To be brutally, painfully honest, they resemble earthworms that have been sprinkled with salt, and just by watching them I could feel that annoying bubble of stomach acids crawling up their way to my throat from the sudden onset of motion sickness. Damn, these kids are relentless. The funniest thing was the ladies made sure to distance themselves at least a metre or two to prevent getting injured while the males occasionally joined in the fun, jumping and flapping like it's their last shot at life. Everyone was having a great time nonetheless.

"Hey, Yoongi-" he flicked a grape at me, "The girls have been eyeing us nonstop." I caught him winking at them and throwing kisses, making the girls giggle and talk to themselves. Typical Jin.

I simply waved my hand. I really didn't care. "I'm okay. You can go and talk them."

His smile was different this time. "You're dead serious about Mia, huh?"

I snorted. "If the situation had been different, I'd take her away with me and marry her. Go on, water that drought within."

He threw more grapes at me. Jin tried hard to live in abstinence, but it's tough from someone who had the most active sex life, but eversince his break up with Mishka, he lost interest and confidence.

The tables have turned, now I was the one pushing him away to go on and use whatever the hell he kept teaching me about luring females. Well, our methods are different. Jin uses charm and sense of humor. As for me... Intimidation? Sense of protection? I gave up even before I start thinking.

Cara, Stacey and her boyfriend, and another boy from their year stood up to dance, but Mia still want some strawberries and insisted that they go on without her. She sauntered back to the snack bar to refill her plate.

Okay, Yoongi. Time to move.

Yet again...

Mr. Yan approached her to complement about the decorations she did, particularly the metal flowers and balls made of wires. I wasn't surprised at all, she has her father's talent with metals. I could imagine a tiny Mia scampering around their jewelry shop, climbing on her father's lap to watch with her curious little eyes as he inspects each precious gems in their shop. It must've been a pretty sight.

I busied myself stuffing cream puffs in my mouth. I couldn't help but pop two at a time, my tummy making sounds of satisfaction at the sudden fill, reminding me I haven't had any food since lunch time.

Watching her like this makes my heart full. Surprisingly I wasn't bored. I was rather having a nice time. I knew in time I'll have her for myself. I know for sure she's the only one I want. Even if destiny is against us, even if it means I'll spend the rest of my existence loving her from a distance or just waiting in the wings, my heart will never belong to anyone else. If I die single then so be it. Because Mia is the only girl I'd want to bear my last name, to be the mother of my children.
