So I'm going to skip the big introduction and get right to the notes and byes because you guys have all waited long enough.

District Four, Selene Albright - TheDarkHorse [5]

This entry, as always,  was quite well-written, but this time also had the advantage of being  obviously well thought-out; the connection to the symbolical lifeboat of  the song, the safety net/lifeboat that Selene was for Marissa and the  physical lifeboats in the entry was clear and intelligent. It was just  dramatic enough to be a proper semifinal entry, but managed to avoid  melodrama by remaining it perfectly realistic to the world and  characters set. However, this entry had one key weakness and that was  its paving; it definitely had the tediousness (in a good way) of the  song, but despite this the song itself is fast-paced, something that was  very much missing in the long, almost rambling entry.

District Five, Vivienne Bright - theravensdiadem

I'm quite pleased with  this, actually, because this song is one of the ones I felt less pleased  about, but I think this entry was probably the strongest as far as the  connection to your song went. You definitely managed to keep the  contemplative and almost repetitive (memory after memory after memory)  aspect of the song going, something which definitely worked in your  favour - and the addition of Death was very clever. Amusingly enough,  however, the problem in your entry was the same as in your task one:  your paragraphing has the habit of getting a little wonky.

District Ten, Dove Evans - Clove_Thenardier [6]

Ouch. So um could you  not with that because it hurt a lot and I didn't expect it - but that's  what I loved about the entry; how cleverly thought out it was, meshing  with the song in a way I'd never dreamed would work, but it did. Really  well, actually. The big problem with that entry was how toned down it  was - while the pacing of the entry was short and fast like the song, it  was a little too slow, lacking considerable allure for a semifinal  piece.

District Eleven, Hettie Burris - MagmaKepner [4]

A very strong piece of  writing, this entry is exactly what I've come to expect from Hettie: a  strong piece of subtle character work mixed with a masterful account of  the difficulties that are faced by the less fortunate. Your skill for  delicacy in writing and understanding text best showed in your link to  the song and the way that it connected to the entry particularly through  theme rather than theatrics: that life is hard, and if we don't get  over that and fight through, we're completely and utterly screwed.

District Twelve, Egan Agni - MagmaKepner [4]

So um that was  emotionally painful and I really liked it, which means I'm a masochist.  Damn it. In all seriousness, though, you really do have a knack for  first person, though stream of thought has made your writing a little  too rambling, I think. As far as the link to the song goes, it seemed a  little lacking in connection just because of how internalized and small  it was. This is a grand song about a new world; I wish that had come  across.

District Thirteen, Ashley Fission - katniss-everdeen [2]

Okay, no. Just stop. You  finally managed to make me cry, so that's a plus! (I think). This entry  was beautifully written, and - importantly for a music task - literally  seemed to be music. Your understanding of both the song and character  really showed through, really influencing the potency of the piece. And,  despite the slight shortness of the entry, you managed to have the slow  and progressive pace of the song. Good work.

Capitol, Anna Smith - Learning_to_Breathe

Notes: This entry, as  always, was very strong as far as content and characterization goes. The  grammar was for the most part flawless, other than one small error near  the beginning. The place where this entry suffered was in connection to  the song; this is one of the songs I thought had most connection to the  character, but instead you ended up with something that just didn't  quite seem to fit as far as intensity was concerned.

Well, after consideration I have decided to give the byes to Hettie Burris and Ashley Fission. Which means that up for votes are:

District Four, Selene Albright [5]
District Five, Vivienne Bright
District Ten, Dove Evans [6]
District Twelve, Egan Agni [4]
Capitol, Anna Smith

Send votes of your three favourites over PM. Voting closes tonight at 10 PM EDT. You may vote for yourself.

(And yes, it will be heartbreaking to say goodbye to three of you.)
