TAKEO'S POV
"IT'S time for you to go back in the Philippines, Takeo," bungad na saad ni Dad pagkapasok ko sa opisina niya.
I adjusted my glasses and then looked at him without emotion. "Why?" Even though I'm surprised, I didn't show it on my face.
He moved from his seat and met my gaze. "Your mom needs you there," he said gently, with a sad aura.
It immediately caught my attention. I looked at him, confused.
"Your mom's health is not good right now, so she will need someone to help in the Philippines. You know, like business, home, and so on," he explained.
"Where's Zakhira?" I asked.
He's right. I let out a deep sigh and turned my back against him.
"How about my studies?" I asked when I was already in front of the door and turned to look at him.
He automatically perked up at my question. He probably already knew my decision.
What a cunning man, tsk!
"Zakhira has taken care of everything; you only need to arrange your belongings. Your flight to the Philippines is tomorrow morning," he said with a smile.
"Psh! You already knew that I was going to agree, huh?"
Lalo namang sumilay ang kaniyang ngiti. "Of course! That's your mom. Alam ko naman kung gaano mo kami pinahahalagahan," he said proudly.
I tsked and left his office. My parents are already separated; nonetheless, they still manage to stay friends and have a good relationship.
As I walked up to my room, I couldn't help but think. After two years of running away from the past, I'm going back this time.
What a playful destiny!
MY BUZZING phone caught my attention while I was busy driving.
"Hello?" I answered the call while connecting it to my earphones.
I was welcomed by my sister's nag, "Seriously, kuya? Isn't jetlag a trend for you? Are you really coming in?"
Can't blame her. The plane just landed at four o'clock in the morning, and here I am, on the way to the school I'm going to attend.
"It's better to study than to be bored at home," I answered lazily.
"What can I expect from a nerd like you?" She let out a sigh. "Aren't you tired from traveling, kuya?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.
"Don't worry I can handle myself.
"What the hell, Zakhira?
"Well, naninigurado lang. Sige, kuya, take care.
