Liam's POV
Her light glowed brighter. She smiled more often, and her energy was higher than before. It was a beautiful sight to witness. In the last couple of days, since her dad's successful surgery, she has grown back to be her old self again. I can see it in her once more.
I couldn't keep my eyes off as she and her father talk. The smile on her face grows more and more as she speaks. Her dad and her had a few minor arguments, which was quite amusing to see. I watch from afar because I didn't want to ruin the moment. Her and her dad needed their moments before we leave. I asked her if we could extend our vacation, and she couldn't be happier. It was my turn to pick the location, and I knew exactly where I wanted to go. It was just the thought of it scared me.
"Liam," I woke up from my stare and look at Mr. Hernandez. "Come here."
I stand up from the couch and walk up to him and beside Ally as he spoke, "Now, before you two go, I want to say something, and please take my advice: learn to communicate. Love is nothing without it. I learned that the hard way. And I know you two had trouble with that in the past." Ally and I exchange a look. I recognize the sad look in her eyes as they fell. I'm sure she was thinking about the past as I was. I rest my hand on her shoulder, and she flinches, snapping out of her thoughts.
I give her a warm smile, and she returns it and holds my hand. "Thank you," she says.
We turn our attention back to her dad. He clears his throat and continues, "I hope you two are at a better place. And I wish the best for you two."
I smile and squeeze Ally's shoulder, and in return, she squeezes mine.
"When are you guys leaving?" He asks.
Ally looks at me, curious. I answer him, "When Ally is ready to go."
"I'm ready right now," she says. I nod my head. She looks at her father and stands up from her seat. She gives him a hug. "I'll visit you soon, again," she said, muffled.
Her father strokes her hair gently, and he nods his head. She breaks the hug and looks at me. I hold out my hand, and she takes it. We wave to him goodbye and exit the room.
Ally wraps her arm around mine as we stroll down the hall, enter the elevator, and ride down to the lobby. Once we exit the hospital and walk through the parking lot, I find my car and open Ally's door for her. She thanks me with a kiss on the cheek, and I blush a little.
I rush over to my side and sat behind the wheels. After I buckle up, I turn on the engine, and the radio turns on automatically. Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper played. I listened to the song as I drove.
I'm off the deep end,
Watch as I dive in,
I'll never meet the ground,
Crash through the surface,
Where they can't hurt less,
We're far from the shallow nowAlly quietly sang along as I tap along. Ally turns away from he window and looks at me. "So, where are ww going?"
I swallow and said, "Well, since we visit your dad, I think it was a good time to visit mine."
I smile at her, trying to hold back the saltiness. She returns the smile. She holds my hand, and I feel myself warming up. I look at the road ahead and focus on it.
—
A couple of hours have passed, and night has risen. Ally fell asleep a couple hours ago. She needed her rest.I turn the steering wheel and drive into the dirt road. I press on the brake a little as I lower the speed. After a couple of minutes, I pull into my parent's driveway and see their lights on.
I turn off the lights of the car and shut off the engine, waking Ally up. I look at her and see her eyes on the house. She rubs her eyes, and I waited until she was awake.
