I stood out on porch, staring at the stars once more. Today has not started great. First, I woke up with my hands locked in Liam's. Then, I walk into him when he was naked. What's next?
My heart beats faster when I'm with him, and I couldn't control it. He is seeing Jade. And Jade and I are beginning to get close. She hasn't texted me back since I responded, but I'm sure she was busy. Liam seems to be happy too. Jade must really make him happy. And I'm happy for the both of them.
I sigh heavily and feel the cold breeze hit my skin. I hear the door close behind me, and I spin around. Liam approaches me with a smile. "Hi," he greets.
"Hey," I said. "What are you doing out here?"
"I can ask you the same thing," he says. "Bear is with Mabel and Lizzie, and you were supposed to help him make some cookies, but you weren't there so I came to check if everything was alright."
"I'm alright," I said, swallowing afterward.
"I just want to make sure that there isn't any awkwardness between us," he says. "What happened earlier today was unexpected and an accident."
"I'm really sorry I just walked in," I said. "I should've knocked."
"Or I should've remembered to lock the door," He rebuttals. "I must have forgotten because I was tired from sleeping on Bear's bed. It's been a while since I've slept in any bed other than my own. And I found it to be a little uncomfortable during the night."
"I think it's pretty even," I said. "Now, we both saw everything."
He chuckles at the memory. "True," he says. "So, are we still good? Other than the usual." His smile fades from the last statement.
I nod my head. "Yeah," I reply with a smile, trying to lighten his mood.
"Thank you," he sighs, "for taking care of Bear yesterday. He told me he had a lot of fun baking with you. He fantasizes about making a bakery shop. You would be the head baker while he is your assistant. I hope you know you are an important factor to his life now. You've spend a lot of your time here with him, and he grew fond of you."
"I know," I said. "I just can't wait to see him grow. But next year, he'll be with his mom again. There would be no use for me."
"I would hope not," he says. He smiles, and I knew what he was feeling. However, he hesitated and clarifies, "We still have a couple of months before you decide. And I hope you choose to stay." I see the hope in his eyes, and I smile a little.
Ring! Ring!
I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket. I pull it out and look at the caller ID. It was Jade. I look at Liam and said, "Sorry, I have to take this." I walk pass him and walk down the stairs. I turn to the corner of the house and pick up the phone. "Hello?" I greet.
On the other end, I hear Jade sniffs what seems to be a sob. "Hi, Ally. I'm sorry I couldn't reply to you earlier."
"No, it's okay," I said. "Are you okay? You don't sound too well."
"Oh, so he hasn't told you," her breath shakes.
"Tell me what?" I question, furrowing my brows.
"Our date," she croaks. "I thought he would tell you how he embarrassed me and left me hanging."
My eyes shot up. "W-what? How? Why?"
"I don't know," she says. "I thought we were fine. I thought very much so, but..." I hear her sob, and my heart melted. "...but I, uh...I was wrong."
