"My name is Will," he says.
I hold out my hand and greet, "Hi, I'm Liam." He shakes my hand for a moment. "Are you lost or something?"
He shakes his head no. "Pardon me for my entrance, but I have some words to speak with Allyson."
"Ally?" I question. "You know her?"
He nods his head. "Yes, I do. But I guess if she is busy, I can talk to you first privately."
I nod my head and step aside. He walks through, and after I close the door, I lead him out to the backyard where the pool was. We walk around the edge, and I offer him to take a seat at the table. He sits down and looks at me for a moment. "How is she?" He asks.
"She is well," I answer, sitting down myself.
"Is she happy here?" He asks.
I nod my head. "Yes, I'm sure she is."
"I heard that she is with some guy that is her boss who also happens to be her childhood friend," he says.
"I am that guy," I answer. He blinks and sighs heavily.
"Do you make her happy?" He asks.
"Yes, I would say so," I answer. "I know that she makes me happy." His jaw clenches, looking at me with thoughts I assumed weren't good.
"Has anything happened between the two of you?" He asks, and I was confused as to what he meant. But after a while, I knew he was talking about the night.
I shake my head as a response, feeling like it's not part of his business. I clear my throat and ask him, "How do you know her?"
"I work with her father," he answers. "And he trusts me to take care of her daughter because he knows I will never hurt her." His words ran a little sharp and towards me.
I snicker a little. "Are you implying something?"
"Maybe," he remarks. "I remember that she told me about a guy who broke her heart because he chose another. He loved someone else, and he was about to get married and be a father." I crease my brows and in his eyes, I knew he loved rubbing it in my face. His small smirk backed him up on it. But I couldn't ignore that he said she told him.
"You have no business talking about my business," I state. "I don't care who you are, but leave my it alone."
"I have the right to be in your business because you're in mine," he rebuttals. "She might love you, but I am person her father trusts. He chose me to marry her before he dies." A pit grew in my stomach, and I hid my fist. "Whatever you two have done, it doesn't matter because she is going to come home and live with me. Just ask her. You'll know. Just ask if she is going to stay or if she is going to go home and leave you behind like she did in the past. You might be the guy that she loves, but remember, you're also that guy who broke her heart. You don't deserve her love."
"Hey!" I raise my voice, standing up. He stands up as well, and I try to handle myself. I needed control. My fist shook uncontrollably, and I was tempting to hit something and/or someone.
"What's the matter? You can't handle the facts," he spits.
"Stop," I said.
He ignores me and continues, "I know you pretty well from all the stories that she has told me."
"Shut up," I said, trying to suppress my anger.
"You know damn well who you are to her and who you will always be. She deserves the best, and you know that you're not it," he says. "And don't forget, she ruined you too."
"I said shut up!" I scream. I swing my fist and punch his cheek, channeling my anger on every hit. I swing another punch, and he fell to the ground, laughing like a psycho. I begin to kick him in the gut for his words. The more I hit, the more relieved I felt.
As I continue to kick, two hands hold my arm and yank me back a little, but I try to kick him still until I hear her voice, "Liam!"
I turn around and meet her eyes. Ally looked frightened from the sight of me. Her eyes shift to Will, and she releases my arm and bends down to help him. I hear her speak softly to him, "Will, are you okay? I am sorry."
"It's okay," he says. "Thank you for saving me from that beast." I look at him and see his acting growing on the outside. He looked at her as if he was hurt, and although he was, he didn't show his wicked looks. The ones he gave me after a couple of seconds, and I, enrage, kick him once more.
Ally blocks her hand and pleads, "Liam! Stop it."
I pause and look at the two of them. Ally's hands were wrapped around his neck as he rested on her lap. He holds onto her hand and lets out a fake groan. Ally fell for it and pitied him. "You're going to be okay," she says.
I didn't want to waste my breath, so I storm out of the backyard, leaving the two of them to be.
My anger was exploding from the inside out. I couldn't get over what he said. His words replayed in my mind over and over again. And that's all that I can listen to.
She deserves the best, and you know that you're not it.
And don't forget she ruined you too.
She deserves the best, and you know that you're not it.
And don't forget she ruined you too.
She deserves the best, and you know that you're not it.
And don't forget she ruined you too.
I slap my forehead, feeling the sweat running down it. I went into the kitchen and check every cabinet for the pack. I slam each door that it wasn't in. After I found out, I grab the pack and run out to the backyard, where Ally and Will weren't around anymore. She was probably cleaning up his wound, and I was cleaning up mine.
I pull one out and grab the lighter in my pocket. I light it up and consume the chemicals. I feel my veins tightening for a moment until they release the stress.
Ally does deserve better, and she did ruin me.
I light another one and keep repeating until I feel my stress leaving me, but it wasn't. This time it wasn't helping me.
I feel the flashes of the fire around me and my mom and dad calling me from the outside. My mom was horrified while my dad was yelling at the firefighter to get me out. I didn't know what to do. I was consuming too much carbon, and I passed out after the ceiling fell on me. I thought I was going to die. I should've died.
