Night 2, Part 2: Tragedy Over Pride

I start spinning my spear, getting it going really fast. I charge Jayden, and he backs up. It slams into his knife, knocking it sky high. Kayden slips under the vortex, punching my knee really hard. I lose my balance, toppling over.

He catches the knife and plunges it towards my chest, but I catch his hands. Hie eyes widen as he sees what's about to go on. My hands clasp around his fingers, squeezing as hard as I can. Jay starts to scream, and that's when the first finger bone breaks. Then another. He kicks at me, but it was useless.

I use my left hand to punch his broken fingers, and he falls in agony. I can hear a faint sponsor whistle whilst I beat the shot out of him. "Please." He mutters.

I kick the spear up to my hands, and he calls the knife to his good hand. It flies past and starts looping in a circle, surrounding me. It makes a small cut on my cheek, before continuing. He was trying to distract me. I take the spear and slam it into his chest. He spits blood and the knife stops in its tracks.

"Verí was mine." I say, as a sponsor package arrives behind me. His body goes limp as I push it through his back, and the cannon sounds shortly after.

I check out the sponsor, seeing that it was for Jayden. It was an Advanced Locator Map with Colt and Leo marked on it.

-Before He Left-

I grab my weapon, looking at the sleeping Careers. I could just kill them now, but it'd be more fun to kill them later. I then get an evil idea, thinking it was a great idea.

I drop some poisonous berries from around the Cornucopia into the drink supplies. If they wanted to live it rich, they would have to find their stuff in the wild.

The juice seeps in, and I smile. We'll see who bites the bullet first.

"Here." I say with a smile, handing Isla the drink. We had both walked back to the Cornucopia, and I had prepared a drink for her. I wanted to keep it secret, so it was a surprise.

"Thanks." She says, taking a sip. "I think this goes without saying, but I lo-" she stops.

"Love you too." I say, smiling. Her gleeful faces turns to a frown, and she grabs for her throat. "Isla?"

Abbie looks over, eyes wide. Isla looks at me, fear in her eyes. I was already hyperventilating. "Isla, talk to me!" I say, now very worried. There was no way that drink was poisonous, it was made from safe Cornucopia resources!

"G-ah!" She chokes, leaking blood from her mouth. I rush over, keeping her from falling over. She grits her teeth, blood on her lips. "W-Wil.."

"No, no NO!" I scream, kicking the glass over. I was in tears at this point. "ISLA!!"

"W-why.." She gasps, falling back and into the metal wall of the Cornucopia. She was holding her throat, where her jugular was turning black. "y-you.."

"No, nonono it wasn't me!" I scream, trying to sit her back up. She looks at me in even more fear, eyes closing.

"I.. don't.. wa.." she sighs, and her head falls limp and into the wall again. I stand up, crushing the drink under my boot.

"NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" I scream, practically shattering my vocal cords. This couldn't be happening. I couldn't have poisoned her, nonono I couldn't have... this wasn't possible, those were safe ingredients!

Addie just stares, shocked. "Y-you killed her." She says, starting to tear up.

"No, no I didn't!" I exclaim, trying to do CPR. It was more than nothing. "I couldn't have!"

"I watched you make t-that drink." She says, sobbing. She runs out of the horn, and I fall to the ground, sobbing as the cannon fires.

Someone was here.

I open a door and walk down a set of stairs as a cannon fires in the distance. That was the second one tonight. That had me worried, to be completely honest.

I push open a door, and inside was a rusted, metal door. I push that one open, and inside was a dark room with little to no light coming from outside.

It was a basement, with small windows towards the top of the walls. The night made them next to useless, so I feel my way around. I had no idea who else was In this mansion, but it was so big that is finding each other would be hard.

I find a light switch, and push it on. The room was large and made of concrete walls, with a wall on the back side. On it were a bunch of weapons, from swords, to bows. Perfect.

I grab a bow and arrows, loaded up perfectly. I place my bear trap at the door, in case anyone wanted this room to.

I walk out and screech as a dart enters my back. I rip it out, seeing Aubreigh standing in front of me. She had her blow gun.
