Chapter 13--Dangerous
"Who is this beautiful maiden?" Tito Roger, Rio's father, asked to me with all smiles, he was referring to the lady holding my arms tightly like a child that fears to be lost.
I smirked. "Tito, hindi niyo man lang ba ako kakamustahin after all this years?" Binati ko nga siya't hindi man lang pinansin ang bati ko.
"Looking at you know, fully grown man, I know that you're more than okay. I bet this woman is the one who captured the lad's elusive heart?" He chuckled.
Naalala ko noon, siya pa ang nagtuturo ng mga techniques sa basketball. Who would have thought that the famous basketball player before would be a very powerful business man today. You really can't conclude the future.
"No, tito. This is just a friend of mine. Tito Roger this is Irene, Irene this is Tito Roger. Rio's father." As soon as I mentioned Rio's name, Irene became alert. I glared at her.
"Hello po. Ako po si Irene. Happy birthday po." Irene bowed to him.
"Oh? Your name seems familiar to me. Do you have any relation with Rio?"
"Uhm, kaibigan at naging kaklase ko po siya.." Medyo naiilang niyang sagot.
"Aside from that..?" Tito Roger knows something, he was digging information or confirmation rather.
"N-niligawan niya po ako dati.."
He laughed then he drank the glass of wine he was holding. "I knew it. My son is always talking about you. I guess he would be very glad to see you now."
"Nasaan po ba si Rio?" I did my best to not sound like I'm pissed. I'm not, I'm just having a bad time?
"Nandiyan lang siya sa paligid, entertaining some guests." He answered, nagpaalam muna kami na hahanapin ko lang si Rio.
"Bakit hindi mo sinabi na nandito pala si Rio, Aeon?" Irene tried to get my attention but I didn't bother to look at her.
"Ano naman ngayon? Are you getting excited that your ex-suitor is here?" I grabbed her arm.
Napapitlag siya. "Of course I'm excited that there's someone I know aside from you in this ocean of strangers and besides he's my friend." She tried to let go of my hand but I didn't let her.
"Don't you go close to him. I'm warning you." I said in my low voice.
"What? Bakit naman kita susundin?"
"Well, woman you better do as I said or you'll get punished."
Nakipaglabanan siya sakin ng titigan, those eyes of hers were looking at me fiery. Walang sumusuko hanggang sa may tumawag samin. And I know that voice belongs to the one we're arguing of.
