Chapter 14--Someday
Irene was talking to woman in her early 30's, she was holding a compilation and turning pages while discussing. Probably, she was showing some of her car designs. Her face is glowing as she smile and laugh with their conversation.
It has been a couple of days since the last time I saw her, and its oblivous that she's hiding from me. I tried to go to her shop, to the bank she's working or even at the restaurant but she was no where to be found. Ang sabi sa'kin ng isang bank teller ay naka-leave daw ngayon si Irene. Kahit nga sa bahay nila, hindi mo siya matatagpuan. Iniiwasan niya ko, yun ang alam ko.
Mukhang sumasang-ayon nga sa akin ang tadhana, Aidan was about to meet me here at the coffee shop but as soon as I saw Irene, I immediately called Aidan and cancelled our plan. Pinagsisigawan niya pa nga ako sa telepono dahil meron daw talaga siyang importanteng sasabihin.
I crossed my arms while sitting to the next table where they are. Hindi makakatakas sakin si Irene, now that I found her here in a coffee shop.
Her smile was replaced by frown when her gaze suddenly turned to me, alam kong nagulat din siya dahil sandaling nanlaki ang mga mata niya. I grinned as I waved to her. Umiwas agad siya ng tingin at sa paningin ko, natense siya. She was a bit panicking, muntik niya na nga matapon ang coffee niya. She even gulped. Ilang minuto ang lumipas ay natapos din ang kanilang paguusap, they shake hands to each other before they leave. Halatang nagmamadaling lumabas si Irene pero mabilis kong nilapitan siya at hinawakan sa braso.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"Bitawan mo ko, Aeon." She calmly said.
"Are you avoiding me? You're hiding, Irene."
Tinapunan niya ko ng masamang tingin. "Ano naman ngayon? Ano naman kung iwasan kita?"
I smirked. She was trying to be brave but she can't hide the fact that she's intimidated to me as her hand we're shaking. "Irene, you should know that you can never escape from me. No matter you hide, no matter you run, it doesn't make sense. I'll always appear in front of you, I'll always win this hide and seek game."
Umismid siya. "Yeah right, expert ka naman talaga sa larong yan diba? Diyan ka magaling."
Tumalim ang titig ko kahit hindi niya naman ito nakikita dahil naka-shades ako. Humigpit ang hawak ko sa kanya. "What do you mean?" I tried my best not to sound pissed to her.
Tumingin siya sa paligid niya, siguro dahil napansin niya nang marami ang nakatingin. "Lumabas na tayo, baka may makakilala pa sa'yo."
Maglalakad sana siya palayo pero hinila ko siya pabalik. Tumingin siya sakin nang may pagkainis at saka tumingin muli sa paligid niya. "Gusto mo kong bumalik diba? Sa tingin mo mapapabalik mo ko kung nandito lang tayo, nagbabangayan?" Mahina niyang sabi.
I smirked. Now she's provoking me. "Trying to challenge me, Irene? Let's see." Hinila ko siya palabas ng coffee shop. Away from those curious eyes watching us.
