9. The First Finger

I reached the café by 7.45 p.m. and there was no one except Choi Young and Cha Eun Sang. Eun Sang, being a scientist went upstairs to his lab for work. The studio was closed and so I had no other choice but to wait there with Choi Young. I was feeling nervous because he could clearly read me. Before he could start guessing anything, I decided to change the topic.

"I see the café is quite empty", I said.

"We closed early today", he said.

"Where are the others?"

"Yoon Min Joon and Go Nam Soon have gone to the supermarket nearby, to purchase items for tomorrow. However, since Nam Soon has gone, the supermarket would be flooded with his fans and they will of course, be late. Eun Sang is in his attic", he said.

"Why didn't you go with them?" I asked.

"Someone has to be here in the café for you, so I decided to stay here", he smiled. I cursed him for staying here in my mind. I hated to be with him because, my heart skipped a beat on seeing him and most importantly, he could read me like an open book.

"Is Nam Soon a very famous actor?" I asked.

"He does many advertisements and is very famous for his charming smile, with those dimples; it drives women crazy about him. He is about to act in a romantic comedy very soon", he smiled and then I said, "Wow! That's great", though this had nothing to do with me.

I decided not speak to him about me because, the more I spoke to him the more he would learn about me. It looked like a long time and I was silent and suddenly without warning he asked me, "Are you afraid to speak to me? Your expression tells me so", he asked.

"No, I don't speak much generally", I said. How could he read my mind so easily? Was it because he was a psychologist? It did not matter anyway.

Then Kim Ji Won was there correctly at 8.00 p.m. as promised. Then I was all dressed up and the makeup lady went out for a drink. That was when I heard that strange scream, not just a scream but a blood curdling shriek from the camera room. There was nobody except Kim Ji Won and me in the basement. So, the cry must be from Ji Won and I sprinted there to find a tall figure in a pool of blood with a long iron saw and a knife pierced over his body and blood pouring out from almost everywhere. I haven't seen anything this brutal in my life and I shouted "Help! Anyone please help"

I saw a long tall hooded figure dressed in complete black robes rushing out and suddenly I saw that figure fall down and then before I reached it, it got up so quickly and disappeared out of thin air. But there was a small popping sound as if the figure had dropped something on the ground.

Then at the same time, Choi Young came running and stared at me in horror. I lost my concentration of the figure at that time yet I picked up the object that the figure had dropped. It was a small hair pin generally used by women.

"Heartina, what happened?"

"Kim Ji Won is no more", I said and was breathless due to fear.

"Did you kill him?" asked Young.

"What? I was there at the make-up room and then came running as you did now, when I heard the scream", I said with shock of being suspected.

"Calm down. Tell me, what happened after coming down to the studio?" he said.

"We came down, I was in the changing room dressing up and my make up lady went out for a drink. That is when I heard the scream and I came out to find Ji Won dead.

There was a hooded black figure rushing out of the studio and I chased the figure and that figure dropped this", I said and gave him the pin.

After telling him, he gave me a piercing look to check if I had murdered Kim Ji Won. Seeing the tension in my face, he looked at his friend Kim Ji Won. This was the only moment I felt happy for, he could read me.

Choi Young being a doctor examined the body closely. Ji Won was pierced with a long saw in the stomach at first and then without taking out the saw, the murderer had pulled the saw up till his neck and there was a knife pierced on his knee too. He had his eyes open staring somewhere lifeless and we both informed the police of this brutal murder. Yoon Min Joon, Cha Eun Sang, Go Nam Soon and Choi Young were all so worried. Cha Eun Sang was in tears, sobbing silently in the corner.

Within 20 minutes the area was full of police men. I was really tensed and usually I fainted at the sight of blood but this time it was really strange. This was because only I had been inside the studio when Kim Ji Won was murdered. What if they think I was the murderer? What if police suspected me? Would Choi Young inform the police that only I was at the same place when Kim Ji Won was murdered?

I have seen a lot of crime fiction and the first suspect is always the person who was at the same place at the time of murder and now, I was the only one in the basement apart from Ji Won. Will I be suspected? Especially, since I am the newest member here. I was worried.
