32. The Island

Heartina...

When I got out of the car, Go Nam Soon let out a small whistle and ran towards us and looked at me with awe, "Heartina, you look so beautiful today. WOW, your costume is great", Go Nam Soon told me and I was all red.

"Choi Youngah!" somebody called from behind. We all turned to see who it was. It was a lady who I did not know. But Choi Young waved at her with a smiling face. She was rich-looking, shorter than me and beautiful. Richness shined brightly in all of her manners. Her emotions were careful and hence not very much natural. She came running towards him and Choi Young gave her a tight hug and gave a peck on her cheek. I felt a pang of jealousy. Though, Young appeared to be concerned about me, he had not expressed affection of any sort at all, except on the other day when I saved him. I felt myself longing for his touch and at the same time, I felt ashamed of myself for thinking so.

"This is Shin Chae Kyung, the only heiress of SCK group of companies", he told me and continued, "Chae Kyung, this is Heartina Williams, Go Nam Soon and Yoon Min Joon, my close friends. This is Chae Kyung, my fiancée", he smiled.

"What? Your fiancée?" asked both Yoon Min Joon and Go Nam Soon together.

"Yes, we had our engagement, right before I came to Macau. She lives in Seoul", he told us.

"Why didn't you tell us about your engagement?" demanded Yoon Min Joon in an accusing tone.

"I thought of keeping it a secret. But, as she is here now, I am bound to introduce her. Isn't she pretty, Heartina?" he asked me.

"Very pretty", I murmured. Inside my heart, I cursed both of them. If he had a fiancée, why must he help me so much and make me feel so miserable? He said he did not like girls at all and how about her? He had told me he did not have a girlfriend at all. All were lies. I felt very distant from him. Liar, I cursed him inside my mind. But something told me, everything happening was folly. I kept on thinking; a small nudge from Min Joon brought me back to reality.

"We are going on a tour. Will you come with us?" Young asked Chae Kyung.

"No, I have an important meeting tomorrow", she said.

Just at that time, I heard Go Nam Soon's phone ringing. He picked it up and spoke for few minutes and then jumped up with joy.

"What is it?" asked Yoon Min Joon.

"After 3 days, that is after we would be back from the tour, they are going to give me the 'THE BEST MALE MODEL OF SOUTH KOREA' award in a function that is to be held at Macau. WOW, I can't believe my ears, really", he said happily.

"Congrats, you deserve it Nam Soonah!" Choi Young and I told him at the same time. Shin Chae Kyung gave me a stare. Though, she looked friendly, the stare she gave me expressed pure jealousy and hatred.

"They are having a party and Choi Young, you must bring your fiancée there", Go Nam Soon told him and continued, "So, Young will there with his fiancée and I will be there with Heartina and Min Joon", he finished.

"What? You will be there with Heartina?" demanded Young.

"I have to introduce the heroine of my film officially and so I am going to take Heartina. You will come with us Heartina, won't you?" he asked looking at me. From the corner of my eye, I could see Young getting tensed. But he has his fiancée and I will be left alone. I got angry.

"OK Go Nam Soon, I will be there with both of you", I said with a false smile on my face. From the start, I liked Choi Young only as a friend, best friend and then now I have started to like him so much. But at this point of time, he has his fiancée. Then slowly, I started thinking about his status. He is a born prince but I am a born pauper. A girl like Shin Chae Kyung will be suitable for him and his family. So, I thought, it was a good opportunity for me to throw him out of my heart. Just then Chae Kyung, received a call and jumped with happiness. "My meeting tomorrow got cancelled and I am coming with you Young", she shouted and hugged him. I felt sad, yet I must be happy for my friend Young. I pretended as though I was happy to see them together. But, again, I know Young can see right through me. He is psychologist and will surely know my thoughts. So, I decided to keep my distance from Young. It was the only way, he couldn't guess my thoughts.
