47. Investigation

Hwang Tae Kyung...

Date: 18/07/2016... Time: 11:30PM... Hwang Tae Kyung's home...

It was late at night when I received the call from Young.

"Yes Young", I answered.

"Can you come with me to Seoul tomorrow?" he asked doubtfully.

"Are you so afraid of the killer to go alone?" I mocked though, I knew he wasn't calling me there without a reason.

"No. I wanted to tell you the truth", he confessed

"Truth. What truth?" I was shocked.

"Actually...I saw the murderer's face", he said in a morose tone.

"What? Then why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I was afraid to tell", he said with same gloomy tone

"Why were you afraid?" I was angry now.

"It is because the killer had HEARTINA'S face"

"Are you telling me Heartina is the killer?" I jumped to that conclusion.

"No... There is no chance for that all", he said and I understood he was as confused as I was at the moment.

"What? But how?" I asked him so that both thought of the odds.

"I am positive about this because she was chasing the killer with me and went in the other direction and yet the killer had Heartina's face. Another evidence is that, the killer and I got into a fight and she had her forehead bleeding. I saw Heartina's forehead. Being a doctor, I could differentiate between a knife cut and a cut from a thorny bush"

"You mean the killer had Heartina's face but she was not Heartina"

"Yes, exactly"

"But the eye colour was different right?"

"Yes. That is the only difference and both are left handed"

"Then...could she be Heartina's twin?" I asked surprised.

"Maybe", he said doubtful

"But you could ask Heartina about it", I said as a matter-of-fact.

"That is the problem now sir", he sighed.

"What is the problem in asking her?"

"I think she is suffering from memory loss. I think she has lost all her previous memories. She is able to remember only few events in her life. Her memory is from only 4-5 years ago. I think she forgot all her past. The worst thing is that, she doesn't know that she is suffering from this memory loss problem. I really feel sorry for her"

"How is that possible? But it's really a pity that she doesn't know about her condition"

"When I took her to the orphanage the other day, she fell down and got a head injury. When I was examining her head, I saw a long deep scar on her head and when I asked her she was not aware of it"

"May be, she is acting", I said as a matter-of-fact.

"No... No... As a psychologist, I can easily tell when people tell lies. I saw the honesty in her face"

"What are we going to do now then?"

"Only Heartina is suffering from memory loss but not her parents. So, I have planned to go to Seoul and ask them about Heartina's scar and when her past comes out, I'm sure we will know about the twin too if she had one"

"Also, do not bring Heartina with you tomorrow" I warned him.

"I know. You and I are going alone. Will you come with me?" he asked earnestly.

"Sure. Finally, we got a clue to solve this case... When and where will we meet tomorrow?" I asked excited.

"I will pick you up at 6:00 AM in the morning from your home", he said.

"How many days will we be staying there?"

"Till her parents give us the whole story", he said and continued, "I think it will not be an easy job"

"Why?"

"They have a memory loss kid there and if we tell her or force her to remember the past, then the present memories will be tampered. So..." he dragged.

"We must promise them that we would not tell Heartina about this", I suggested but, "Will they believe us?"

"I'm not sure. Anyway, let us give it a try. See you tomorrow"

"Sure. Good night Young!"

"Good night Tae Kyung"

Choi Young disconnected the phone and went down to his room to pack all his goods for the journey next day. At the corner of the terrace stood Yoon Min Joon silently listening to the entire conversation. He had

heard everything. He was there to call Choi Young down as it was really late, when he heard him speaking about the killer and her face which resembled Heartina. Why didn't Young tell him about the killer? Yoon Min Joon wondered if Heartina knew about this. Choi Young felt uneasy for having to lie to Heartina and his friends. He slept having to go Seoul the next day.
