The spotlight is on me
So I must prepare
For the heartbreak and disappointment
Of peoples despair.
My head gets covered over by the thought of performing
Another poem read and another time that was boring.
My voice isn't monotonous it's just my way of expression
To hide the emotions and anger away from my confident impression.
Another go at a talent show, this act I haven't done before.
An act of disappearing any thoughts from my head.
The pressure daunts over me as I can feel it squeeze
My heart out of its sockets suffering from great ease.
An ease of popping what was and now what's meant to be
The feeling like rubbish is following or is that just me?
Hiding in my body another person calls
Out for help as I can feel the fall.
So you don't know me so take back your words
The words of terror and fear making it hurt
More and more the pain will clench
My fists won't do anything except hurt themselves.
The spotlight is on me
Now let this fade
Like me in the background
I must not stay.
