James's POV
"Hey man, I seen you talking to the new girl." West says.
"Her name is Riley." I tell him.
"Whatever." He says, rolling his eyes. "So, how is the dare going?"
"I have a date with her tonight at seven." I tell him. He smirks.
"Have fun with that."

Riley's POV
I stare at my reflection in my mirror. I've never been on a date before, and James never told me where we were going, so I was clueless of what to wear.
The truth was, my family didn't have much money. Most of the clothes I buy are bought with the money I make on my own, so I can't really afford the top designer clothes.
I decide on a pair of very worn jeans, a plain white tee shirt and a scarf, and a pair of old flats.
"Where are you going?" My dad asks.
"Just out with someone from school." I say quietly.
"A boy?" He asks. I blush.
"Um, yeah. But it's a long story." I mumble. He chuckles.
"Alright, have fun!"
"Trust me, I won't." I grumble.

James's POV
I park my car outside the coffee shop and wait until I see Riley walking. I glare. She doesn't really look nice. Most girls I go on dates with dress amazing. And she just looks...Poor.
"Hey." She says as she approaches me.
"Hey." I reply coldly.
"So, where's our date?" She asks.
"Here." I say gesturing towards the coffee shop.
"Here?"
"Yeah, c'mon." I walk in with her following behind me.
It wasn't anything special. But there was no way I was wasting my money, well, my parents money, on a date I didn't even want to be on.
I walked to the counter and gave the cashier my order. She was pretty cute, so I flirted with her for a good five minutes, as if Riley wasn't even standing there. Riley cleared her throat.
"Oh um, sorry." I mumbled. I took out my wallet, which was overflowing with cash, and took out a five dollar bill.
"Keep the change." I say. Then I move out of Riley's way for her to order.
"I'll have a green tea." She tells the cashier.
"Alright, that will be 2.50." The cute cashier tells Riley. Riley looks at me, as if expecting me to pay.
I didn't care if it was only two dollars and fifty cents, or two hundred dollars and fifty cents. Riley can pay for it herself.
Riley's POV
I looked at James, expecting him to offer to pay for it, afterall, it was a date that he asked me out on! But he just stood there. I sighed and opened up my nearly empty wallet. All was there was a five dollar bill. I notice James eyeing my nearly empty wallet. I quickly hand the cashier the money, she gives me back my change, and I quickly close my wallet again. I grab my green tea and we head to a table.
"You really can't help yourself, can you?" I ask James flatly.
"Huh?"
"Flirting with the cashier, even when you're on a date." I scoff. He just kind of shrugs and I roll my eyes.
This isn't going to be a pleasant night.
