James's POV
Even though I wanted to get something special for Riley, I didn't know what to get.
"What are you guys getting your girls for Christmas?" I asked Eldon and West in chemistry.
"Chocolate and a pair of earrings or something." Eldon says.
"Yeah, same." West agrees.
It shocked me that for two guys who had so much money, would give their girlfriends something so cheap.
"What are you getting Riley?" Eldon asks.
"I don't know. I want to get her something nice and special." I explain.
"Why?" West snorts.
"Because she's my girlfriend." I reply.
"Oh that's right. You actually like her." He says, rolling his eyes.
"Whatever. But I feel bad for her, so I figured I would get her something that would make her happy." I tell them.
"You gave her the gift of even bothering to give her the time of day, and than some. I think that's good enough." Eldon laughs.
"I'm serious guys. What do I give her?" I ask again.
"Welfare." West laughs, Eldon joining him. I scowl at both of them, thinking that if this wasn't a class, I would so walk out of here right now.

Riley's POV
As the day went on, I couldn't help but notice how sick I was beginning to feel. Not as much stomach sick, but more like a head cold beginning to brew.
My first thought was, God, I hope I never gave it to James. But than my second thought turned into, how am I supposed to work if I was sick?
Christmas was next Saturday, and I get paid on Fridays, so my initial plan was to get my pay cheque Friday and head down to the mall right after work to get my gifts for dad, Emily and James. But if I can't work the full week and don't get all my hours, than I won't get paid.
I walked into the lunch room and walked right over to James's table. His eyes lit up when he saw me.
"Hey Riles." He said sweetly as I sit down. He starts to lean in for a kiss, but I turn away quick.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." I say.
"Why not?" He asks.
"I think I'm getting sick, and I don't want you to catch it." I explain.
"Oh, yeah that's probaly a good idea." He says slowly. "But atleast we're off for Christmas holidays all next week."
"Yeah." I sigh.
