James's POV
"James?" Riley suddenly speaks up.
"Yeah?"
"Um, are you gonna, like, drink at the party?" She asks. I take my eyes off the road to look at her for a minute. She was staring back at me, looking somewhat scared for for my answer.
"I wasn't planning on it, but if you don't want me to, the I defiantly won't." I tell her.
"It's up to you, I mean, it's your life or whatever." She mumbles.
"Riley, listen. If you don't want me to, just tell me, okay?" I tell her. She sighs.
"I don't want you to." She says.
"Okay, then I won't drink at the party." I say. She let's out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you." She replies.
"Why didn't you want me to though?" I ask. She shrugs.
"It's just that you're the only person that will be there that I know, and I don't want you to be drunk." She says.
"Is that girl Chloe coming?" I ask.
"No." She sighs.
"Well don't worry. Just stay by me." I tell her.

Riley's POV
We pull up to this huge house. Music was blaring from it, and there was teenagers everywhere. It looked intimidating.
"Ready?" James asks.
"Huh? Um yeah, let's go." I reply, trying to sound enthusiastic. We get out of the truck, and as we walk to the house, James wraps his arm around my waist. I flinch, and would normally push him away, but I just leave it be. James guides me inside.
James's POV
"Hey man!" I call out to West. He turns around and grins.
"Hey what's up?" He calls back as he approaches me and Riley. He had a beer in his hand. He looked at the bottle, and then at me.
"Want one?" He asks. I look down at Riley and then at him.
"Nah, I'm good." I reply. He shrugs.
"Suit yourself." He says and walks away. Then one of the football players, Ashton, stumbles toward us.
"Hey man! What's up?" He says, slurring his words.
"Um, nothing much." I reply. He smiles at Riley.
"Hey, is this the new girl?" He asks. "Typical for you to have the first go at her, eh?"
He still stares at Riley, mumbling something in a drunken voice. Riley leans in closer to me. Then Ashton stumbles away to bother someone else.
"You okay?" I whisper to Riley as I rubbed my hand up and down her back, in some effort to assure her that she was safe with me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She says quietly.
"Don't mind him, he's an idiot when he drinks." I tell her. She giggles a little at that.
"I can't disagree." She replies.
