Riley's POV
The party drawn on for what felt like forever. I took glances at my watch, checking to see if it was almost midnight yet.
I was beginning to get a little overwhelmed with the whole party scene. Needless to say, I hate drunk people. Surprisingly though, James keeps his word and never drank at all yet. And I know he never because he hasn't left my side. Every now and then, he will lean closer and make sure that I'm okay.
"Are you okay babe?" He asks, rubbing my back lightly. After some time, he had adapted to calling me babe when he would ask me if I'm okay. I had given up on telling him to stop calling me that probaly the fifth time he called me it. I nod a little.
"Hey, we're playing spin the bottle!" Someone shouts out.
"Really?" I mutter. It was probaly the first word I said tonight, other than 'I'm fine.'
"It's kind of like a tradition that we have every year when West throws his usual party." James tells me. He walks me over to a spot where everyone had gathered around in a circle. One chair remains, which James sits on.
"Looks like you're going to have to sit on my lap, sunshine." He says with a smirk. I let out a frustrated sigh, and sit on his lap, keeping my feet on the ground to support me so I don't really have to sit on James's lap.
"Relax Riley. I won't bite." James sighs. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer to him, holding me with a strong grip. The bottle goes around a couple times, as I sit and watch. A bubbly brunette spins, and it lands on James. I gulp as she stands up and walks closer to him. I get off his lap, and surprisingly, she takes my spot on his lap, sitting down and wrapping her scrawny legs around his waist and smashing her lips into his. I stand with my arms crosses, and almost felt a hint of jealousy overcome me.
Everyone else whistles, and claps as they pull apart after roughly twenty seconds of kissing. The girl stands up, quite pleased with herself.
"Sorry about that hun." She whispers harshly with a nasty smirk on her face as she walks past me. I roll my eyes, and resume my place back on James's lap. He wraps his arms around me again.
"Jealous Riley?" He whispers in my ear.
"Yeah right." I scoff. James spins the bottle. Landing on me.
My body feels numb as my blood runs cold. I slowly turn my head to look at James. He already had his eyes closed and was leaning in. I squeeze my eyes shut and stay still until I feel his lips connect with mine.
James's POV
I feel Riley's lips on mine and I feel that amazing rush through my body, just like last night when we kissed. No girl has made me feel this way before.
Riley slowly detaches her lips from mine, and we stare at each other. She stared wide eyed and blushing, while I just smile, still in a daze.
"Um, uh, I, um..." Riley stammers on until she turns around and spins the bottle. That's when I realize something.
Riley is going to have to kiss another guy.
I watch as the bottle slows down until it lands on Lucas, another football player, and one of my worst enemies.
Lucas gives me a smirk.
"Looks like I'm kissing James's girl!" He says happily. I glare at him.
"I'm not his girl." Riley says sounding agitated as she gets off of my lap and moves closer to him.
"You can look away if you want James." Lucas tells me, still wearing that ugly smirk on his face. Riley takes a seat on the couch next to Lucas. He puts his arm around her and I cringe. They start to lean in, just as I snap.
I spring up from my chair and quickly grab Riley and drag her away from the group. The group of teenagers taunt and tease me as I continue walking, my grip tight on Riley's wrist.
