James's POV
Since I had been spending all my time with Riley, Eldon and West were starting to complain, so they insisted that we'd have a guys night Thursday night. So here we are, in Eldon's basement.
"Hard to catch you nowadays." Eldon comments
"I've been busy." I reply.
"I guess having a girlfriend like that is a lot of work." West mutters.
"Why do you guys make fun of her so much?" I question angrily.
"C'mon man. She's a loser! You know that." West replies.
"Unless you like her..." Eldon mumbles.
"No! No, I don't like Riley like that." I growl.
"Than your saying that you think that she is a loser?" West inquires.
"Well maybe she's not as much a loser that you guys think she is." I mumble quietly.
"Whatever you say man. She's your girlfriend." West chuckles. I glare.

Riley's POV
"Riley can I talk to you for a minute?" My dad calls out from downstairs. I can hear worry and sadness in his tone. I hurry down the stairs.
"What's wrong?" I immediatly ask. He sighs.
"I got laid off from my job today." He tells me. I bite my lip nervously.
"What are you going to do now?" I ask.
"I don't know. I'm going to figure something out. But I just thought that I should let you know." He says. I nod.

James's POV
When the guys weren't noticing, I texted Riley.
JAMES-Hey Riles
RILEY-Hi
JAMES-What's wrong?
RILEY-I don't think I'll be able to go camping Friday night. I need to get some more hours in at the cafe.
JAMES-Why?
RILEY-My dad lost his job today
"Oh, what's this?" West smirks, snatching my phone from my hands.
"Hey! Give it back!" I yell. He reads the messages, and begins laughing.
"What?" Eldon inquires.
"Her dad lost his job." He laughs. "God, they're really in the poor house now!"
I grab my phone from his hand and grab my jacket.
"Where are you going man?" West asks, trying to stop laughing.
"Away from you idiots!" I snap and stomp up the stairs.
