The Bet

Chapter 80

Riley's POV

After some time of cuddling and messing around with each other, James and I decided to get up, get ready, and leave. We took turns going into the woods to get changed.

"Watch for the raccoons." James had teased me. I had rolled my eyes and procceeded into the woods. Luckily, there was no raccoons.

"We should do that again sometime." I mention to James as we drive back.

"Yeah that would be great." He replies happily.

"Maybe when it's warmer though. Like after prom." I speak up. James doesn't answer.

"How about we stop to the cafe for breakfast?" James asks after ten minutes of silence

"Yeah sure." I reply. We reach the cafe and go in.

"Hey!" We hear a familiar voice call out to us. To my left was Eldon, West, Stephanie, amd Michelle. Me and James looked at each other before walking over.

"Hey." We say in unison.

"Where were you last night man?" West asks James.

"We went on a little camping trip together." James chuckles, sitting down. I sit on a chair next to him.

"Ah, you finally found one willing to go on that stupid camping trip with you." West comments.

"Hey, it wasn't stupid." James interjects.

"Yeah, it was actually really nice." I cut in, sticking up for James. James smiles at me.

"Was it romantic?" Michelle asks, putting her elbows on the table and leaning he head on her hands.

"Yeah it was." I reply leaning my head on James shoulder.

"How is sleeping in a tent romantic?" Stephanie asks, wrinkling her nose.

"We slept in the back of the truck actually. I put a mattress and blankets and stuff there. We basically slept under the stars." James says.

"Aw, that's so cute!" Michelle gushes. Than she turns and scowls at Eldon. "How come you never do anything like that with me?!"

Eldon smiles nervously at his girlfriend, obviously scared of her. Than he gives James a 'thanks a lot' look.

"Who knew James was romantic!" West laughs.

"I can be romantic!" James argues.

"Yeah right." West replies.

"Actually, James is very romantic." I cut in, gripping onto his arm and smiling.

"See!" James laughs.

"I don't know man. You were never like it before, so why now with her? It's like you're faking it or something." West laughs. James looks mad. He takes out his wallet and hands me a ten dollar bill.

"Here, can you go get me a coffee? And get whatever you want." He says. I'd usually object but I can see the fury in his eyes.

"Alright." I reply. I kiss his cheek and get up.

"We'll go with you." Michelle and Stephanie says, obviously feeling the tension as well.

James's POV

After the girls left, I turned and scowled at West.

"What's your problem?!" I snap at him.

"Grow up man. I was just messing around." West replies.

"Well you need to knock it off. Riley is going to find out if you don't." I hiss. It wasn't the fear that if she finds out than I lose the bet now. It's the fear that if she finds out, than she'll never want anything to do with me anymore.

"Well than that's your loss." He growls. We stand still, glaring at each other. Soon, the girls come back.

"Here's your coffee." Riley says sweetly, handing me the cup.

"We're going." I growl, standing up and grabbing her hand.
