~Flashback Continued~

"You made sure to get all your last-minute assignments taken care of?" Kelsey asks me as we walk up to the last ATO party of the semester.

Today's Tuesday, November 22nd, also known as the day before the infamous five-day Thanksgiving break. Following tradition, ATO's throwing their last epic party of the semester given that when classes resume, all the students -myself included- will be studying their asses off to either maintain the current grades that they have or pull off those miracles needed to get themselves up to those desired grade cut-offs. And since the ATO parties will be dearly missed, Kelsey and I easily decided that there's no way we could skip out on this one.

"Yes, ma'am, even Wright's essay on Sonnet 106 which was such a pain in the ass to analyze, by the way."

"Tell me about it." Kelsey rolls her eyes. "Between that, and having to turn in the final draft of my Winter Showcase composition for approval before the big event, this half week has been hell."

"Yeah, and in more ways than one," I retort, completely agreeing with her.

"Hey," Kelsey says, nudging my arm as we get to the door. "I know what happened yesterday was infuriating as hell, but I want you to know that I couldn't be more proud of you. I still ship you and Ace like crazy, but you of all people didn't deserve to be put through that."

"Thanks, Kells." I give her a quick side hug, and she rests her head on my shoulder.

"Of course, bitch," she responds, making me smile. "Oh, and I went ahead and picked up both of our mail since you were in the library all day, so don't forget to put that in your suitcase before we leave for home tomorrow," she tells me as we pull away.

"You're the best." She winks at me.

"I know."

With smiles on our faces, we walk inside the music-blasting house, more than ready to have the night of our lives.

Little did I know that night would be the one to change my life forever.

I tap my index finger against the side of my now empty Heineken bottle to the beat of Desiigner's 2015 hit, relieved that a slower song has finally come on...well, 'slow' compared to the other selections that have been playing so far.

Man, dancing can really take a toll on your muscles. It's either that, or I'm starting to get old, bruh.

You're eighteen, the only thing that gets 'old' about you teens is your sassy attitudes.

I chuckle to myself. Buffy ain't entirely wrong on that one.

Just as I'm about to go get myself another drink, Kelsey and Hayden come into view, Hayden offering me one of the two Heinekens in his free hand as the two take a seat next to me.

"I owe you a drink, remember?" He asks me, offering me his lighter for the cap.

"But I failed to get him out of his mood?" I respond, confusion lacing my tone as I take the lighter anyway. Shit, I've never been one to turn down a drink that I didn't have to get myself, and I'm not going to start now.
