~Thursday, December 8, 2016 - The Morning of Professor Jenkins' Philosophy Final~

"You're going to kill it, Kells. I mean, come on! It's a course on writing music, you've been doing that this entire semester in preparation for the showcase," I tell my best friend over the phone as I enter the designated building for my Philosophy final.

"Oh, no, It's not that that I'm worried about. It's Wright's final. Music, I can handle. Shakespeare, on the other hand? Yeah, I rather just dig up my own grave for that one." I chuckle at her response, lining up with the other students outside of the same lecture hall I've been attending for the past three months.

"We have one whole night before his exam, Kells. We're not going to let it faze us, alright? We've been studying this entire week, upon all the studying we've been doing for our other classes. So, as soon as you're done with your final, meet me at our booked study room back at the Learning Commons. Tonight, we focus on interpreting Shakespeare's sonnets in our own words."

"Deal," she tells me before asking if I've heard from Ace yet.

"Nope. He even skipped out on our regular morning text, which has never happened before."

"Weird. Did he at least show up for the Philosophy exam?" I look up to see if I can find him anywhere in the crowd of students before me, but he's nowhere in sight.

"If he's here, I don't see him."

"Well, he was here studying last night, so I'm sure he'll show up. Just like I'm sure that he'll talk to you soon. Just don't let it get to your head right now, you have a Philosophy final to murder."

"I know, and I won't. Same goes for you."

"Love you, bitch. Good luck."

"Love you, too. Good luck," I respond before we end the call.

Two minutes later, Professor Jenkins' assistant opens up the door to the lecture hall for us to get in. There are two other students, who are most likely here to help monitor the exam, waiting for us with stacks of scantrons in their hands. I grab one before making my way over to the same seat I've been sitting in for a while now, the one next to Ace which happens to be empty at the moment.

Per protocal, I fill the scantron in with all the necessary information before silencing my phone and putting it away. The next five minutes are spent with Professor Jenkins informing us about her exam rules while her helpers pass out the booklets. Only with a minute to spare does Ace finally decide to show up, but he doesn't end up sitting in the seat next to me. Instead, switches seats with Rebecca -who was sitting in one of the front rows- leaving her to sit in the only seat available now, the still empty one next to mine.

Is he for real right now?

Scoffing at his immature attitude, I ignore the act for now but not before coming to the conclusion that this is no longer about him keeping his distance for a good reason. No, this is now him deliberately avoiding me for some unknown reason. And that only annoys me ten times more than yesterday's situation did. I bring my focus back to my exam just as Jenkins gives us the green light to start, not only determined to get a good grade but also to talk to Ace as soon as I get the chance.
