~Saturday, December 31, 2016 - The New Year's Eve Party~

"Luca, it's your turn to take out the trash!" I shout from the kitchen, trying my best to be heard over "Can't Feel My Face" blaring through the speakers situated in the Fayers' spacious living room. My brother walks into the kitchen seconds later, grabbing the already tied up bags next to the now empty trashcan.

"You didn't get everything," he tells me, and I look around the kitchen to see if I had forgotten to throw anything away. Just because my group and I don't have to clean up after the party, doesn't mean that we're off the hook during it.

"Yeah, I did," I state knowingly, after seeing that I've taken care of everything.

"No, you didn't."

"Alright then, Einstein. What the hell did I forget?"

"Yourself," he smirks and I roll my eyes before pushing him out the back door.

While Luca makes his way towards the trash containers in the alley, I join the packed living room just in time to see Skylar hooking up her phone to the speakers via bluetooth. Aside from the gang and their families, the Fayers invited a bunch of other people from both our old and current neighborhoods. As always, the parents and older adults have claimed the basement, while us younger adults and teens have taken over the Fayers' living room. The little kids are in the family room upstairs, most likely taking advantage of pigging out to junk food while watching horror films that no twelve-year-old or younger should watch.

"Alright, that's enough of contemporary R&B for now. The new year is just around the corner, and this bitch needs to be popping," Skylar comments right before she switches The Weekend's 2015 hit to the more recent "Irresistible" by Fallout Boy featuring Demi Lovato.

I make my way over to the opened seat next to Kelsey on the couch. Theo and the twins are sitting across from us, and I don't feel even remotely surprised when I walk into their conversation about who they're kissing at midnight.

"I'm thinking about Megan this year," Theo says, nodding over to said brunette in the far right corner of the room. Her and her family live a few houses down from us.

"What?! No fucking way!" Liam retorts. "You know her and I low-key have a thing. Come on, now." Levi makes a nonhuman sound at his twin's words.

"I don't think you jacking off to her in your sleep counts as the two of you having a 'thing,' bro," Levi tells him, putting air quotes around the word 'thing.' Theo chuckles at Liam's expense, earning himself an elbow to the stomach.

"Alright, alright," Theo grunts, rubbing the area that Liam just bruised. "I'll back off of Megan, no girl is worth a pointy ass elbow to the gut."

"Great, now help me decide," Levi perks up. "Belinda or Carla?"

"Carla's the better kisser," Liam advises.

"Agreed," Theo follows. "But if you're looking for a little somethin' somethin' tonight, Belinda does wonders with her tongue on all other body parts. Like this one time, she-"

Aaaannnndddd, it's about time I shut the rest of this conversation out.

Turning to Kelsey, who I now see had also been listening in on the boys up until a few moments ago, I place my arm around her shoulders. She gives me a bright, toothy smile.
