Not too long after Ace's last text, I had slipped an anonymous tip -a handwritten note to be more specific- to the announcers of the event just before the start of the final race, hinting that someone may or may not have been checking out a certain vehicle in the garage at the time.

The announcers had been responsible for notifying the organizer, who in return notified the owner of a possible trespassing...but what neither Ace, Hayden nor I had been aware of was that the owner of the track that Ryan claimed to know was actually a good friend of our honorable guest of the hour: the one and only, Christian Cantarella.

Point being? It had only made getting Ryan's ass handed to him that much easier.

~Flashback Continued~

"Christian, I can explain," are the words that leave a horrified-looking Ryan's mouth when he realizes that he's been caught. And if I wasn't so focused on hiding behind the door of this crowded storage room, I'd actually be recording this shit for 'America's Funniest Home Videos.'

Don't ask me how I got stuck in there, by the way, just know that nothing was going to stop me from witnessing that encounter. Ryan deserved everything he had gotten that night, and I wasn't going to miss that for the world.

Christian doesn't verbally respond to Ryan's plea, instead letting his tight jaw and scorching eyes do all the talking. I nearly lose it when Ryan visibly gulps at the Italian gang boss's expression.

Wonder if that makes me a bad person...

"They- They- They set me up, sir. I swear, I-"

"Shut the fuck up, you despicable little prick," Christian spits out, refusing to spare him his wrath this time. Taking a step forward in his tailored Giorgio Armani suit, his demeanor is enough to make both Ryan and myself nearly shit our pants.

Oh, who am I fucking kidding? I totally pissed a little right there and then, but I'd never admit that to anyone else but you guys. So, be grateful.

"Yes- Yes, s-"

"I said, 'shut the fuck up!'"

The garage grows extremely silent to the point that its barely audible heat radiator can now easily be heard.

"I took you in when you had absolutely no one, gave you a place to stay, provided food on your plate...and this," he says, spreading his arms wide for indication, "this is how you fucking repay me? By making me look like a fool in front of one of my most respected colleagues? Are you out of your damn mind, son?!"

Ooh, I'm getting Liam Luciano vibes here, Buffy beams. Zamnnn, Daddy!

Who?

'Luciano' by taintedkissesxo, it's a mafia book about one of the most feared men in all of the world, she elaborates. Highly recommend as your next Wattpad read.

I almost, almost, burst out laughing in that exact moment.

"How dumb do you have to be to not know that you would've gotten caught sooner or later? You know what my organization stands for, and you should know that I do everything for a reason," Christian all but growls as he towers over Ryan, who still hasn't gotten up from the creeper. "My deal with Ace Rivers was established on the grounds of respect, trust and a man's word, which you clearly know nothing about. I've asked you to keep an eye on him for precatious measures -something I would've rearranged for no matter who was in question- but that did not give you a single damn right to go against my orders. What he and I agreed upon is none of your damn business, and to even think that you could take matters into your own hands shows me that my power, my word, mean nothing to you. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't put a bullet through that fucking head of yours right now!"
