~Flashback Continued~
~Saturday, February 4, 2017~
The past few days have been a lot better than I initially thought they'd be. True, I haven't stopped receiving not-so-anonymous notes from Lazzaro at the bakery to accept the check, but at least I can say his name again without having it affect me in such a way that I want to vomit all over this popcorn that Kelsey and I are about to share.
With the boys off to LA for the weekend, and Kelsey and I opting out of the trip in order to spend some quality time together -which is something that we haven't done in a while now- we've been asked to house sit for them while they, and all their other roommates, are gone. Given that the guys practically have a home theater for a living room, it was really a no-brainer for where the two of us would be binge-watching our 'Fast and Furious' marathon tonight.
"Ready for thirteen hours and forty-seven minutes of fine ass guys, strong female leads, and one hell of a badass collection of race cars?" Kelsey pipes as I plop down on the couch right next to her, warming myself up with the cozy blanket that she throws over us seconds later.
"Damn right I am," I respond, setting the popcorn between us as I grab my Sour Patch Kids. "Let's get this shit started." Chuckling at my words, Kelsey starts the first film of the franchise.
And what had started as great determination to get through all six films in one night, ended in my best friend and I snoozing our asses off after only making it through the first three films. We'd instantly fallen asleep, our bodies equally sprawled out over one another, where we'd remain like that until the next morning...or so we thought.

I'm currently being called to stage to accept my Academy Award for Best Director when I feel the absolute slimiest tongue lick the side of my face.
I instantly groan, placing my hand on Kelsey's forehead to push her away from me, only to realize that it isn't Kelsey after all. This person is furry and has a much smaller head, and when my eyes shoot open to the sound of them screeching their throats off at me, I instantly bolt off the couch and land flat on my ass.
"What the actual fuck?!" I yell out just as Kelsey follows with an "are you two fucking insane?!" after landing on the floor right next to me.
Ace and Hayden instantly double over, holding onto their stomachs as their laughter fills the room, and all Kelsey and I can do is stare at them in disbelief before focusing our attention on the Capuchin monkey that's currently sniffing around the very same couch that the two of us had fallen asleep on.
"Holy shit!" Ace breathes out, wiping the tears from underneath his eyes. "That was fucking priceless! Tell me you got that on tape!" He asks Hayden, who's barely managed to sober up from his laughter as well.
"Are you kidding? I wouldn't have missed recording that for the world!" Hayden assures his best friend as he places his phone back in his pocket, while his girlfriend and I narrow our eyes at the two of them.
What the hell are they even doing back so early, anyway? They left yesterday and weren't supposed to be back until tomorrow evening.
"A monkey?" Kelsey deadpans as the two of us rise to our feet. "Really?"
"Oh, come on." Hayden points to the medium-size furball next to us. "How could that have scared you?" He retorts, a wide grin on his face. "Look at him, babe. He's fucking adorable!"
"Oh, I'll show you fucking adorable!" Kelsey pounces on Hayden, giving him a noogie while Ace slowly begins to back away into the kitchen with a grimace on his face.
