*In the car back to Cheryl's.*

"I need a drink." Cheryl exclaimed, wiping her hand down her face.

"Touché." Katy agreed.

Lily remained silent the whole journey to Cheryl's, silent as they walked in to her house, even silent whilst they were getting wine.

"We'll go and get some snacks?" Shannon suggested, signalling Katy to follow her.

As Katy and Shannon walked into the kitchen, Cheryl sat beside Lily. "What's wrong, Lil? I hate seeing you like this." She said.

"Nothing." Lily stated, turning away from Cheryl slightly.

Cheryl put her hand on Lily's shoulder in effort to comfort her.

"Cheryl." Lily said, softly, biting her lip to stop her from crying.

"What is it, Lily?" She asked, stroking her back.

"I'm..." Lily began.

"You're what?" Cheryl

"I can't work with anymore." Lily eventually announced.

"What!!!!! What do you mean?" Cheryl shrieked.

"Cheryl." Lily began again. "It means... It means I can't work with you anymore."

Cheryl shook her head and blinked.

"Why!?" She exclaimed, standing up.

"Cheryl..I've got to move on. I want to pursue my dream. You'll be fine, you don't need me." Lily said, trying to sound as soft as possible to console her.

"I've needed you for 8 years, and I still need you! You've been on this journey with me for 8 years. 8 years of my life you have been my rock and sole. You were here when me mam got sick. When I got malaria. When he cheated on me. It was all you!" Cheryl said, shaking her head in disbelief. "You watched me grow into a solo artist, get me first number 1, me second number 1, me third number 1! It was you that supported me when I wanted to become a judge on X Factor. You were there for me when me and the girls split up. You know I couldn't have done any of that without you." She continued.

"Of course you could." Lily whispered.

Cheryl grabbed Lily's hand. "No, Lily, I couldn't." She said, as a tear fell down her cheek.

"Listen to me. I promise you, I'm still going to be here for you. I'm still your bestfriend." Lily said, her voice cracking.

"Lily..." Cheryl whispered.

"Cheryl, nothing you can say is going to change this. I need to pursue my dream. I want to study law. I'm leaving next week." Lily replied.

Cheryl sighed.

"Next week?" She whispered, as if to try and stop the words from leaving her mouth.

"Next Thursday, I need to be gone." Lily confirmed.

Katy and Shannon re entered the room, noticing it had gone quiet.

Katy put the bowl of popcorn down on the table and sat beside Cheryl. "What's wrong?" She asked.

Cheryl burst into tears.

Katy hugged her, kissing her head. "There, there." She whispered, rocking back and forth.

Cheryl sat up straight and took a deep breath.

"If it's what you want, who am I to stop you." Cheryl said, braving a smile.

"All I've wanted since I was 11 years old was to be a lawyer, you know that." Lily said, placing her hand on Cheryl's shoulder.

Cheryl flinched. "I know." She replied.

"Please support me in this? I want to do this. I need to." Lily asked.

"Like I said, if it's what you want. I can't stop you. You've supported me in everything I've ever done, why should I stop you doing what you want to do." Cheryl said, braving another tainted smile.

"I'll always be a text away, a call away, I'll always be here for you, even when I am actually away. You know that, right?" Lily asked.

"Yes.." Cheryl murmured, sniffing.

*1:00am*

Cheryl was tossing and turning in bed, the thoughts of having to face things without Lily scared her.

"Baby?" Katy whispered.

"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" Cheryl replied.

"No, I'm worried about you, because you're worried. You'll be fine without Lily, you're Cheryl Cole." Katy said, trying to console her again.

"Except, I'm not Cole am I. I'm Cheryl and I'm alone. It's me against the world. I haven't even got Lily to fight my corner anymore." Cheryl said, beginning to cry again.

Katy sat up.

"You're not alone, Cheryl." She said, firmly. "You have me." She added.

"Yeah, for now. But how long for?" Cheryl whispered, sitting up too.

Katy turned to face her, shocked.

"What has got into you?" She asked.

"I'm sorry." Cheryl said, guiltily.

"You know I'm going to be here for as long as you need me, however long that is." Katy whispered, turning to face Cheryl.

"Why?" Cheryl asked.

"Because, I love you." Katy replied.
