Chapter 61: The baby

"AHH!" i scream. "Push!" doctor Karev tells me. "AH!" i squeeze Romans hand. "ow" i hear him mumble. i glare at him "shut up" he pushes my sweaty hair away from my face. 

"come on baby you can do it" he says to me. i take a deep breath and shake my head "i can't" "yes you can" "i can't Roman, i'm so tired" i tell him. 

he nods "it's alright Rachel, just think about holding our baby in your arms all this pain will be worth it in the end" i scream again my head falling back. "you can do it Rachel" doctor karev says to me. 

"ugh....AHH!" i scream again. "almost there!" doctor karev yells. "keep pushing" "push" "you got this" "AHHHH!" i scream letting out a big push. i stop once i hear the babies cry. "oh my gosh" Roman mumbles. 

he lets go of my hand so he can cut the umbilical cord. "congratulations it's a girl" doctor karev says. i smile at Roman. "a girl" i mumble. 

Doctor Karev  hands her to Roman. "she's beautiful" he says to me. i watch as Roman Rocks the baby a little. her little finger reach's out to touch his face.

i felt more tears come out. Roman walks closer to me. "our baby's here" he says. i sniff and held out my hands to hold her. he places her softly on my arms. "hi baby" i whisper to her. she makes a little noise which made me cry even more.    

Roman had his hand on my shoulder. "you did it baby" i smile at him "you lied to me, she looks like a potato dipped in jelly" he laughs and shakes his head "she's beautiful shut up" i roll my eyes. 

Doctor Karev stands near me. "let me clean her up, Roman you can watch" we nod. i hand him my baby and watch as him and Roman leave to the far end of the room to clean her up.

"mom, i hope you saw that" i say before closing my eyes to go to sleep.

It's been 4 hours since i gave birth. The baby is already nice and clean. it was only me, the baby and Roman in the room. but soon people will be coming to see our little potato.

i'm holding her right now, roman is sitting on the seat next to me rubbing his temple. "i'm tired" he admits. i laugh "you're tired? i just gave birth to a human bean!" he laughs "well i was by your side the whole time and i'm tired!" 

i roll my eyes at him and watch my sleeping baby in my arms. the door opens and it's Ellis and William. "hi" Ellis whispers while walking in. "hey" me and Roman say back. Ellis kisses Roman on the cheek and than walks to me. 

"Rachel" she says while smiling on the verge of tears. "can i hold her?" she asks. i smile "of course" i pass her the baby. Ellis already a natural holds her with ease. "William look, isn't she gorgeous?" 

she shows William the baby, he smiles at her. "she is" Roman shakes his head "Rachel says she looks like a potato" Ellis laughs "you're mean" i chuckle"it's the truth"

Tracy, josh and little Ruben come in. "hi!" Tracy says and kisses my cheek "how was it? easy?" she asks. i shake my head "no it was not, i don't know how you did it" she laughs "i had drugs honey, did they give you?"  

i shake my head "all natural baby" i'm proud of myself. she pats my shoulder and goes to meet the baby. josh kisses the baby's forehead "she looks like a potato" he says. i laugh, Roman shake's his head "you carter siblings are terrible" 

Josh points at me "you said the same thing?" i nod while laughing. we high five each other. Ruben sits on the bed near my foot. "hi tia Rachel, are you okay?" he asks. i nod "yes little Ruben, did you meet your cousin?" 

he nods "she's so little" i nod as well "yeah, you were once that size too" he gasps "i was?" i smile "yes i held you, you were so ugly" he laugh's and smacked my foot lightly "you're mean tia Rachel" 

i smile at him. Papi and Lucy come in. "hey Rach" he says and kisses me on the forehead. "where's my little granddaughter" he sings to the baby. "there she is" i smile at him. Ellis passes her to him. he rocks her a little while he holds her.  

"she's so little" Lucy says while holding the babies hand. Roman sits near me. "i love you" he says and kisses my lips. "i love you more"  

Belle and James walk in soon after. in case you were wondering the room we were in is private and huge. so it's okay that a lot of people are in here right now. "i can't wait to give birth already" Belle says while rubbing her belly. she's 6 months. 

me and Tracy shake our heads "good luck" we both say. Belle widens her eyes. her and James are having twins, 2 girls. "what's her name?" James asks. i shake my head "i want to wait till Ray and Lilly get here to tell everybody her name"

every body nods in understanding. "you did good kid" Josh says while leaning his hand on my shoulder. i nod "i wanted to give up" he chuckles while shaking his head "you can't give up you weirdo" 

i roll my eyes at him. Papi hands me the baby back. i sniff her head "she smells so good" i moan. Roman laughs "stop smelling my babies head you weirdo" i chuckle and kiss her little forehead. 

"i can't help it, she smells so goood" Lucy nods "babies have that scent" Ruben grabs Tracy's phone from her purse and starts to play games on it. 

the door opens, Lilly and Ray walk in. "hi!" Ray whisper yells in excitement. he walks quickly to my bed side. "can i hold her please?" i smile at him "of course" i pass her to him gently. 

he puckers his lips "hi cutie, it's your uncle Ray" he kisses her lightly on her forehead. "her hats slipping" Roman says and tells Ray to fix it. 

i clear my throat and grab Romans hand. "is everybody ready to hear her name?" i say. they all nod or scream yeah. 

"everybody, i would like you to meet Romana Carter Knight" i say while smiling. Ellis gasps and puts her hand over her heart. "Romana, after roman" she states. i nod. 

she grabs Romana's hand lightly. "Romana" She whisper sings. i smile. everybody starts to circle around my baby Romana. Roman lays his head on my shoulder. "thank you for giving me Romana" 

i chuckle lightly. "you know she's your walking sperm?" he sucks his teeth and lifts his head off my shoulder. "why do you have to ruin the moment by saying something like that" i laugh. he chuckles while shaking his head. 

"when she gets older i'm gonna tell her all the mean comments you said about her" i laugh and kiss his cheek. 

sighing deeply. i smile at my family, my life ended up being great, i'm glad i took that assistant job.
