This had to be it.

This has to be the end, how could she possibly go on from here.

Things have changed, he has changed.

He's changed to a point where she's not sure she wants to change with him.

It's normal for couples to grow, mature together. The issue is she having, is he's changing without her. He's changing on his own, and not noticing that she's not there.

"I brought a movie and got us some muffins and milk ." She tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear as she leans against the counter.

His phone is in his hands, held in front of his face, thumbs typing away.

He doesn't see that the way she holds herself has changed, hasn't noticed that she's no longer confident in herself, but more insecure. Especially when he's around.

He doesn't respond, just continues to type away at his phone, as if she's not even in the same room with him.

"Shawn?" She nibbles the skin on her thumb.

"What?" He asks, rolling his eyes before looking at her over his phone.

"Never mind." She shakes her head, turning to grab a water bottle off the counter.

She slides the water bottle closer to him, then the plate that holds the sandwich she made him. He looks down, eyeing the food and drink she has moved closer to him.

He takes it, placing it in front of him and goes back to his phone.

Not even saying 'thank you'.

She then starts cleaning the counters, wiping off crumbs and dust. She bites her lip to keep her tears at bay, swallowing back the lump in her throat.

"I'm going out with the boys tonight," He throws his phone down before picking up his sandwich. "And I'll be out late, so don't bother waiting up for me."

She stops what she's doing, looking over at him to see he's engrossed in stuffing his face.

"What?" She whispers, dropping the sponge.

He looks up with furrowed eyebrows.

"I said I was going out tonight." He says around a mouthful of food.

"Really?" She sighs, shaking her head.

"Yes really." He rolls his eyes. "I'm allowed to have a life."

"Sorry." She says, setting the sponge in the sink. She then washes her hands, and when she turns to leave the room she finds that he's moving closer to her.

She kind of smiles, wondering if he's coming to see if she's okay.

But as she looks up, she finds that he's setting the plate in her hand.

"Wash this will you?" He says turning and walking away, taking the water bottle with him.

She stares at him with disgust, who was this man in front of her? Where was the boy she fell in love with? Where did he go?

But somehow she finds herself washing the plate anyway, then going to clean the rest of the apartment that she cleaned yesterday.

The one comment his mother made about the place being messy ingrained itself into her head. She'll never forget the feeling she felt when Karen made the comment, and since that day she's never let the apartment be messy again.

She's so exhausted, so exhausted.

Trying to be the girl Shawn deserves, the girl his mother is proud he's found, the girl his sister goes to when she needs a friend, the girl his father talks to him about marrying.
