My eyes flickered open, the curtains had been left open last night and now the sun seared my eyes as I started to wake. I kept my eyes closed trying to remember how I fell asleep last night. I must have been mentally exhausted than I expected.
I felt an odd weight beside me, slightly moving. I opened my eyes, flinching when the bright light was the first thing I seen. I heard soft snores sound beside me and I turn over on my right side to see what or who was laying soundly asleep beside me. I exhaled deeply at the sight of Veda deeply asleep, her body angled awkwardly, her arm wrapped around her body and around her head.
I looked up at the ceiling, confused as to how I slept in here with Veda. Her snores quieted as she yawned rather loudly. I turned to look at her as she stretched her limbs like a lazy cat.
"Hey," she smiled, "you're awake. You okay?"
"Yeah?" I smile amusedly. It's not normal to be asked if you're okay when you first wake up. However, I remember crying myself to sleep last night.
"You finally fell asleep last night but I made sure to stay with you Incase you...yeah." She explained.
"Did I fall asleep in here?" I frowned.
She sat up, pushing the covers away from her legs. "Yeah, you were really upset last night but we brought you in here. I ended up falling asleep too." Her eyes bore into mine as she spoke carefully evaluating my reaction.
I nodded, not saying another word. "I say let's get the hell out of this joint and get some breakfast. No rogues, no spiteful mothers, and no drama. Yeah?" She suggests with a smile. I nod.
She gets up from the bed and I follow behind her. I watched her back as she strode out of the room, blinking deliberately to come to terms with how everything has happened. Trying to compose myself, I looked at the large mirror that hung on the wall in the hallway and almost screamed when I looked at my reflection.
I was a horrifying mess, my face was pale, hair disheveled, and I was dressed in the same sweater I wore last night along with my dark washed jeans, but they were tattered with spots and stains. How could Veda not have notice and tell me? I would kill for a hot shower, helping my tense muscles but the idea of staying here close to my mother did not sound appealing.
"Corrrbyn," Veda called. I looked around her shoulder, peering at the large form soundly asleep on the couch.
"Corbyn," she pushed his shoulder. A groan escaped his lips but he didn't stir from his sleep. Veda rolled her eyes, smirking mischievously at me.
"Ben. Corb. Cory...BABE!" She hollered and in a split second, his body shot up from the sofa, his eyes wide and frantic as he looked around the room for the source of danger but found none.
