I groaned lightly, turning on my side uncomfortably. The sun seared into my eyes as I started to wake. I swallowed with a wince, my throat felt horribly bruised as if I had been throttled around. I opened my eyes slowly flinching when the bright light was the first thing I saw.
I looked at the White creme colored ceiling, and I turned to meet a familiar face. I blinked until my vision focused on a smiling Veda. "Hey," she speaks softly, "she's awake."
My eyelids felt heavy as though they were glued shut, refusing to oblige and allow me to see my whereabouts. My throat resembled of a bruise, tender and sore. Deep in the pit of my stomach, I knew something bad happened. I urged my head to the side, meeting Veda, Corbyn, and Evelyn's concerned and surprised gazes.
"Veda?" My scratchy voice said and I coughed, letting out a moan of disproval.
"Here dear," Evelyn held out a cup of water suggestively for me. Veda helped me sit up against the headboard and I took the glass into my hands without hesitation. I tipped my head back and drank it, moaning in approval of its coolness soothing my throat.
Their eyes watched me closely until I downed the entire cup of water and I handed the glass back to Evelyn. "Where? Why are?- What happened?" I asked, confused than ever.
Evelyn's brows raised, "You don't remember? Johnathon hurt you last night. He left once Elias threatened him." She explained lightly and I felt coldness through my veins, shivering at the unpleasant memory of his hands choking the life out of me.
"Oh my god," I whispered.
"We came back as soon as we heard," Veda said, her honey colored eyes soft and sincere. She stood next to Corbyn, holding his arm.
"Veda, you didn't have to come ba-"
"No Aurelia, you were almost killed. I don't know what I would do if my best friend was killed and I was across the world without knowing," she frowned, her eyes slightly tearing up. My heart clenched painfully as I realized just how sincere and honest she felt about our friendship. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do if anything had happened to her either.
"We all were worried," Corbyn said, his raspy voice lightened, a boyish smile on his lips seemed to calm my shakiness.
"I-I don't understand how I'm even still alive. I thought I just passed out, I couldn't breathe. I was scared but Elias, he, he- where is he?" I asked, curious as to where he could be. Their expressions turned serious as they all looked at each other unsure.
"Aurelia, you fainted and haven't woken up for a while," Evelyn frowned, rubbing my back soothingly. "You should know Elias isn't doing well."
"What?" She stared at me her expression hesitant. "What do you mean?"
"Aurelia, when Elias knew you were unconscious, he went crazy. Leon has been trying to tame his wolf for hours," Corbyn says, frowning. My heart stopped for a moment and I stared at them in shock as I try to register what Corbyn said.
