Morning arrived faster than expected. Bright sunlight streamed through the window, falling upon my closed eyelids, awakening me from my peaceful sleep. I turned over, groaning lightly as I peeled my eyes open, feeling a sting as the events of last night came rushing back to me. I wasn't a wolf so I couldn't be part of this pack or any pack as mom put it. I guess I should take her advice and start acting like a human as I always been but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit here like a prisoner.
I slowly sat up, rubbing the tiredness out of my eyes. How long had I been asleep? Blinking, I glanced at the clock that sat on my dresser. 11:00 a.m., it read. I was surprised mom didn't come to wake me up since she always made breakfast for us to eat together. My eyes stung as hurt filled me. Was she avoiding me now?
I looked around the cream white and grey room, frowning as thoughts flooded my mind. It was nice to sleep in a comfortable and nicely made room and bed. I slept well last night as much as I tried not to as I was too angry to sleep but I guess my body gave out.
Stretching my tired limbs, I crawled out of the bed and stumbled into the bathroom. All that crying and emotional events took a toll on me, I had slept hard. I took a glance over my appearance and almost screamed. My hair resembled a frizzy bird's nest, sticking out in numerous directions and my face seemed paler than usual. I fixed my hair quickly, not wanting to see the horrid mess any longer, brushing through my curls with a slightly wet brush. If anything, water should calm my curls, I thought. Worse case scenario, my nest like hair would turn into a fro. After brushing my teeth and dressing myself in a loose black dress and a denim jacket, I exited my room and headed down the corridor.
I looked to see a pan of eggs and bacon in the stove and unopened boxes of cereal sitting on top of the fridge. I was slightly disappointed to see Emily nowhere in sight, even though she said harsh words to me. It would have made the situation less awkward and bitter if she at least sat down and ate breakfast with me. Or perhaps she had pack duties to attend to, I reassured myself.
I trudged through the kitchen and grabbed a box of Cheerios and a bowl. I poured the cereal into the bowl, my stomach growling in hunger. Humming to myself, I opened the fridge and frowned. To my disappointment, there was no carton of milk in sight. Well that's just lovely, I thought bitterly.
Slamming the door shut, I huffed in frustration before poking at the dry cereal in the bowl with a spoon distastefully. Of all things, Emily couldn't have the decency to put milk in her fridge?
Suddenly, the door opening made me glance up in confusion, taking my mind off of the milk-less cereal. To my surprise, Danny walked inside rather carelessly, a deep sigh exiting his lips.
"Oh good, you're awake. I was seriously dying of boredom." His words held no sign of care as he pulled a chair out and fell into it dramatically.
I blinked at him. "You couldn't knock?" I look at him incredulously.
Danny shook his head, smiling wryly. "Oh, don't say you didn't miss me too. Whatcha cooking?" He asked, eyeing the food with new found interest.
