"Wow."
I turn away from my reflection, glancing sideways at Veda. She stood by the doorway, leans against the frame and watching me as I stood here staring at myself. I was contemplating on whether I should take the dress off because it didn't feel right on me and the flawless makeup didn't do me right. I felt overly pretty, not me. I didn't have to wear the expensive perky dress and full face of makeup. I knew that one look from girls at the party and I would be judged.
"I don't know," I bit my lip.
Veda rolls her eyes, walking into the bathroom to stand behind me. She raises her hands an lays them on my shoulders, smiling brightly at me. "Aurelia, you look gorgeous. Too gorgeous. Now get your ass out of this bathroom, everyone is waiting."
I look at myself once more and smooth my dress over, finally feeling more content with my appearance. "Okay," I smile at her compliment.
She wasn't completely wrong. Unlike my usual messy and frizzy waves, my hair was smoothly curled and my makeup was subtly but flawlessly applied. I knew the girls will most likely be going all out with hair and makeup tonight (excluding maybe Catie) but I'm not as comfortable with that kind of thing. For me, some bronzer, highlight, and mascara was all I needed and I didn't particularly like how short the dress was but it would have to do. Besides, it was just an all girls night out.
I flick the light switch and follow Veda out of the bathroom into the room. Olivia and Catie stop laughing and turn to us, smiles stretched over their glossy lips. "Oh my gosh, we all look so hot!" Olivia gushed, practically squealing. Catie only shrugged and smiled at me from head to toe. "Wow, someone cleaned up nicely." She winked playfully.
"Thank you," I smile, turning side to side for them.
"Wait, you guys, where's Natalia?" Veda asks. I look around the room, thinking she was still freshening her makeup at the mirror. Her bag and things were gone from beside the bed. Not a trace of her was left behind. She had disappeared.
"Oh," Catie scoffed, "she was begging us to let her leave early to go off and meet up with someone before meeting that guy. Who knows." Olivia rolled her eyes as they both appeared quite annoyed with her leaving.
Veda sighs, irritated. "What's new? Let's go girls, we got a party to show up to!"
Catie grins and opens the door, Olivia squealing in excitement behind her.
"Ready?" Veda turns to me, smiling.
My stomach flutters. "Ready." I fake a smile.

True to Veda's word, I was going to this party with them. Jurist as I kept telling myself, there was nothing to worry about. It was just a few girls going out and talking and laughing and just having fun. That's it.
