Philip's POV
"You are giving me so much pressure to make everything so official- I- I feel like you'd be able to ask me to marry you the day after we tell our parents about us- I'm just- so...so overwhelmed with everything. I-" she said as she was still sobbing.
I hugged her even tighter.
"I'm sorry." I said.
She sniffed and buried her head in my chest like last night.
"I was so excited to tell everyone we are dating that I forgot to ask you or even mind how you felt about it. I'm the only one to blame. And for school. I'll kick everyone who calls you name's asses for your sake." I said.
Even though she was still crying, I heard a little soft laugh.
"Look at me." I said calmly.
She looked at me with her red puffy eyes and she kept on sniffing.
I wiped away the few tears left that were falling from her eyes and gave her a comforting smile.
Alice's POV
His smile made my body filled with warmth.
I gave him the best smile I could but it seemed impossible.
He leaned on to me and our frowns touched.
"No matter any decision you take, I'll be by your side. I swear. I love you so much, Alice." he said and now our noses where touching.
"I love you too, Philip." I muttered and gave him a soft smile.
He pressed his lips against mine and we stayed like that for a couple of minutes that seemed like a whole eternity. It felt like we were the only ones left on Earth.
He pulled away to let us both breathe.
"Are you really going to leave Harvard though?" he asked me a bit disappointed.
"No. I won't. I'm going to show those privileged assholes how I can do better than them." I said and winked.
"That's the Alice I know." he said and tapped my shoulder.
"I'm sorry if I worried you yesterday but as I said, I've been on an emotional roller coaster and anything that is slightly a problem is just a great disaster..." I muttered.
"It's fine, I understand you. Don't worry." he said and smiled.
I smiled back in relief.
"Let me drop you home. I'll let you rest alone today. I have a few little business to do then I'll take you out tonight if you want." he said to me and gave me his hand.
"That would be perfect. Thank you." I said and held his hand.
Before we walked out of the library, I had to leave the book I was reading.
"What's this book about?" he asked me.
"Oh- just- you know- a basic book about uh-" I started but I didn't really want him to know that I was interested in pirates, pillaging, sailing, death and all that piracy stuff. I just think that pirates are very interesting, mostly the ones in the 1600s to 1700s.
He took the book and looked at the cover.
"Black Heart? What's this? Romance?" he asked me chuckling.
"Actually no- it's the most harsh and brutal book you can find in this library." said the librarian who became my friend by the time I hung out here.
His name is Marty and I learnt so much things about him in those last years.
