Shubman: I'm leaving for the airport in 2 hours. Getting ready

Natasha: Omg! So we won't meet before you leave?

Shubman: Sadly no.

Natasha: Shubbb. We wasted these last few days with each other so stupidly. It's all my fault. But you know what? I'm gonna come to the airport too

Shubman: Paagal ho? You're not going anywhere at 3 in the morning.

Natasha: But how else are we going to meet?

Shubman: I'd much rather you're safe than venturing out all alone at night

Natasha: It's the morning-

Shubman: Natasha stop arguing. You're not going anywhere. Don't be an idiot

Natasha: Shubmannnnn

Natasha: guruji mat bano. Anyway, when you get to England SEND ME PICS OF YOU. Okay?

Shubman: I don't do nudes

Natasha: 😂😂 idiot! I meant of your face - not anything else. Just so I know you're safe.

Shubman: do I look like a 5 year old to you who'll get kidnapped or something?

Natasha: Who knows? Some crazy fangirl might steal you from me?

Shubman: And what If when I'm gone some guy tries to hit on you?

Natasha: then you can hit him as hard as you want when you come back 😜

2 weeks later:

NATASHA'S POV:

I don't know how I've spent the last 2 weeks without seeing Shubman. It's such a hard time in my life right now, I can't even tell mum or anybody. I haven't seen dad or Advait since Shubman left too. It's like everything's gone chaotic after he left.

Although he tries to video call me for at least 5 minutes every day, it's hard because I have a dabba of a phone which is so fucking stupid. It never even works properly. Oh - and I have to put the volume really low as I don't want Mum to hear me talking.

College has begun after the holidays and everything has become really busy. The next holidays for college are soon, for Ganesh Chaturthi (I have no idea if students in India actually get holidays for this festival)

I really need a change. Just then, I hear Mum calling me out of my room, making me get up from my studies.

"Yes mum?" I ask, immediately being drawn to the freshly made ladoos laid out on the dining table DJ and mum have made just now. I pop one in my mouth as I lean against the table, waiting to hear what Mum wants to tell me.

"Sara's getting married. Sachin and Anjali's daughter." Mum says calmly.

"OH MY GOD?!?! Are you serious? Sara Tendulkar's?!"

"Yes. And we've been invited, as special guests." She says, again without any expression.

"Mum how are you so calm about this?!" I ask, coughing on my ladoo. Oh wait. I forgot my mum used to once be a part of this whole cricketing family thing. It's no big deal for her. I've always been a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar.

"Anjali and I have been really good friends since I got married. She helped me quite a bit with all the media and all. And she's a doctor too so we used to talk about all the medical things." Mum says, smiling as she makes more ladoos. I grab some more.

"You never told me any of this!" I say. "This is sooo cool oh my gosh. It's like a dream. We've been invited to the Tendulkar's wedding?!?! Pinch me." I say excitedly but to my shock Mum actually pinches my ear.

"Ahhh!" I welp.

"Pagli. Go and study and fantasize about the wedding later. There's still a week to go."

"Where's the venue?"

"It's a destination wedding. Maldives."

"KYA?!?! Mum please. We're going, right? Please please please???" I beg.

"I'm not too sure. I mean - your father's going too so-"

"So what, mum?! When are we ever going to get a chance like this again? The entire cricketing fraternity together under one roof - singing dancing and having fun. And we belong to it. This is so surreal!" I say, still not believing my luck. And Shubman's going to be there too. Wow.

"Now I hope you're not getting too carried away in your materialistic desires, Nat." Mum says cautiously.

"No mum, but I've only been to Australia, nowhere else outside of India. I've heard Maldives is so beautiful. So - can I pack my bags?" I ask excitedly.

"Let me think about it." Mum says.

"No mujhe jaana hai, mujhe jaana hai."

"If you get above 80% in this unit test then we'll go."

I waste no time and run to my room, locking myself and studying like no one must have ever done. I wanted to go to the Maldives.
