Phoebe's POV's
A sigh escaped my mouth as I look at my old phone for over one hour now.
Two hours ago, after I got home from school, tinawagan ko si Faith - took me one hour after so much debating- para tanungin ang number ni Ace. I was in so much relief when Faith didn't ask any questions but rather willingly gave it to me.
And now, wala akong ibang ginawa kundi titigan ang number nya sa phone ko, not sure whether to call him or not.
Ano ba ang sasabihin ko pag tinawagan ko sya?
I lay on my back sa bed ko, stretching my arm in front of me as I held my old phone sa kamay ko.
The more courage you have, the closer you get to the end of the tunnel, which is called freedom.
Freedom, huh?
What Faith said had been bothering me like a weed that grows sa grass. No matter how much you tried to pluck it, they keep coming back. I tried to forget, or even distract myself pero out of nowhere whenever I think or see Ace, naiisip ko yung pinag usapan namin.
Had I been wrong all this time?
Pushing Ace away was like ripping my own heart. It hurts. I tried to protect him, the only way I can but... Did I make the right choice?
My phone rang, making me startled and causing me to lose enough grip on my phone, which ended up sa mukha ko. I took a sharp breath as the pain slowly swarmed to my face. My hand flew to my nose bridge, rubbing it as I sat up and look for my phone. As soon as I found it, and saw the caller, yung sakit biglang nawala. My heart skips a beat, my stomach twist like hindi alam kung ano dapat ang reaction na gawin ko.
Ace is calling me.
I instantly got on my feet, looking at the screen. What should I do? Sagutin ko ba, pero anong sasabihin ko naman? Wait... he's the one calling me so bakit parang ako pa yung tumawag?
Clearing my throat, I pressed the answer button as I put my phone against my ear.
"Hello?" I asked, making me flinched as I heard my voice. It sounded like I just woke up from a deep sleep.
"Phoebe!" he said in a relief tone like he wasn't expecting me to answer.
A fresh, cold breeze from my window chilled my skin. I slowly walked towards it, my eyes looking at the grey clouds outside before deciding to close it and leaning my back against it.
"Ace?" I asked as if making sure na sya talaga kausap ko. "Paano mo nakuha number ko?"
"That's not important," he answered in a controlled voice. "Where are you?"
"Sa bahay,"
"I'm going over there" I heard his keys jiggling and some doors closing.
"Wait," I said, confusion in my tone. "Bakit ka pupunta dito?"
"Seriously, Phoebe. I will not allow you to marry your cousin."
I felt all my blood left my face. How did he know? How did he found out? Naka usap nya ba si Anton?
"Phebs, are you listening?" he asked, making me snap out of my thoughts. "You're not gonna have that wedding."
"Paano mo nalaman?" I asked in a cold voice. My feet rooted on the floor as my head started running guesses as to how he found out.
"That's not important," he answered. "Can we talk? Please, let's talk about this."
My bedroom door banged opened, making me flinched in surprise. Pumasok si Anton, limping as his eyes roam around until nakita nya ako. His eyes seemed unfocused as he wiggles his finger at me, a vile smirk appeared on his face.
