Ace's POV'S
It has been almost a month now since na hospitalized si Phoebe. Every now and then, bumibisita ang mga kaibigan namin at iba pang classmate namin sa school, especially those people na natulungan nya.
In terms sa pag recover nya, she had been compliant to all treatments na ginagawa sa kanya. Kaya naman it made me happy to know that she can finally go home soon.Ever since that incident, she didn't ask any more questions regarding her uncle and cousin. Although the case is still on trial, there was no more chance na magiging guardian parin sya ni Phoebe.
Kaso... from time to time, I can sense sadness sa mga mata nya. Does she still care for that uncle and cousin of hers? Despite all the things that they did to her?
"Ace, kailan ulit sinabi ng doctor ang discharge date ko?" Phoebe asked quietly as she slowly stretched her arms above her head.
"Tomorrow"
She pouted her lips before lowering her arms and massaging the side of her ribs. "Bakit hindi ngayon?" tanong nya, giving her attention sa akin. "Pwede naman na ako umuwi ngayon, hindi ba?"
"Let's just listen to your doctor," I answered, tapping her paper na nasa harap nya. "For now, focus sa assignment mo. You missed a lot of schoolwork."
She gave a deep sighed before taking her pencil and began writing sa paper nya. Though Phoebe missed school for quite a long time, nakahabol naman sya in no time. Despite my disagreement, she didn't want to miss another day, so she insisted on getting her schoolwork done. It took a lot of self-studying and watching some videos in order for her to catch up. She sometimes asked me questions but barely. I almost wished that she does though, for her to depend on me even a little bit.
"How is your breathing?" I asked in a quiet tone. She looked up sa ginagawa nya before giving a confused look. "Is it still painful when you breathe?"
"Hindi na" sagot nya bago ito ngumiti. "Matagal nang nawala."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded innocently. "Oo naman."
Tinitigan ko sya nang mabuti, trying to find out kung nagsasabi sya nang totoo. It's not that I don't believe her or that she was lying. Ever since na meet ko sya, I came to know what kind of person she is. Hiding the fact that she's in pain is one of the habits that she's good at. The habit that I extremely despise. It will be hard for her to transition from hiding her pain to relying on someone.
"Hindi ako nagsisinungaling"
"I'm not saying you are. I trust you. We made a promise not to lie to each other, remember?"She nodded her head in agreement.
"Can you promise me another thing?" Tanong ko in a serious tone.
"Ano?"
"Let's be honest with each other," sabi ko as I grasped her hand na nasa table bago ako tumingin sa kanya. "I want us to be honest as much as we can and not hide things from each other"
"Ace..."
"Alam ko that it'll be hard at first, but... let's do it slowly. I'll help you, Phebs. I will always be by your side."
She stared at me with uncertainty at first, but it gradually faded. ".... okay," she smiled as she squeezes my hand.
I rubbed her hand as I looked at her eyes. "Okay"
Tumingin lang kami sa isa't isa, none of us wants to break our gazes. It wasn't until we heard someone clearing their throat that we slowly turn our head towards sa sound.
