Reader's POV
Everyone in the Aizawa household had moved to the living room. Katsuo sat next to Izumi on the couch. The two pro heroes stood over them as they didn't have chairs to sit on, and were both too lazy to grab some from the dining room.
As the pros were glaring at the two on the couch, they both had very different reactions. One was uncomfortably squirming under the harsh gaze. The other was comfortably sitting on the couch without a care in the world.
"So, you're the little listener that caught Katsuo's attention?" Mic was the one to break the uncomfortable silence that had been echoing throughout the house for a few minutes longer than necessary. "You look like you're about to faint just sitting there. Katsuo, are you sure this is the right kid?"
Katsuo responded to the question quickly, not wanting the questioner to ask it again much... louder. "Yes, she is the person I'm training. If you aren't able to figure out why, I would feel bad for you. Mental disabilities stemming from hearing damage isn't a funny topic." Katsuo wasn't in a good mood at the moment as neither of the adults had taken the action he had thought they would. Asking him questions wasn't part of the deal. As such he added the remark after his answer to agitate the pro. It didn't work.
"What!? You can get mental disabilities from hearing damage?!" The pro had taken it as more of a warning then an attempted insult from the now much more agitated boy. The boy however kept his mouth shut. Letting Mic think he might get mentally sick for a while longer wouldn't hurt. His fun was cut short by the other much more disheveled looking pro speaking.
"Izumi Midoriya. Age twelve. Quirckless. Tell me. Why do you wish to be trained by my son?" Katsuo was no longer angry, he was now relieved. No more questions for him, the faster the conversation was over. The faster the conversation was over, the faster he could go to sleep.
"U-um, I wan-want to become a he-hero and s-save people, to tell th-them that it's alright, I am h-here." Izumi was now squirming on the couch even more than before. She was worried that Katsuo had gotten in trouble because of her. She also was worried that she wouldn't be able to receive his training anymore.
Shouta looked down at the girl with very slight curiosity. He had noted that every word that shakingly came out of the girls mouth was genuine and burning with untapped confidence. He understood why his son would be interested in helping that potential grow. He was always okay with his son training someone, he just wanted an excuse to meet the person he had chosen. While he didn't show it much, he loved his son more than anything, even sleep. His son had the ability to completely change someone's mindset given enough time, just like his mother.
Meanwhile Mic didn't see her potential, as per usual, his observation skills were nothing compared to the Aizawa's own ability. "Yeah, but how can you be a hero and do that? You don't have a quirk to be able to fight high level villains, and you don't have a quirk to save hundreds of people during disasters." Mic was trying to imitate his how his friend behaved when he was talking to someone he viewed as potential-less, not that he viewed Izumi as potential-less. She had somehow grabbed Katsuo's attention, and he didn't really let people into his and his father's training facility over nothing. He just hadn't seen what was so special about her yet.
"You're r-right. I don't have a q-quirk, so I'll never be the strongest hero. I don't have a quirk, so I'll never s-save the m-most people. But I'll do ev-everything in my power to bea-beat those I can beat and save th-those I can save." Izumi had mustered up all her remaining courage to say those words and it helped her not stutter nearly as much as she normally would have. Do to her not stuttering as much Mic was finally able to see her desperation to be a hero. It didn't matter to her if she was ever the most famous, or the richest hero. She cared about saving others.
Mic then whispered surprisingly quietly to Shouta that he approved of Katsuo's choice. Shouta then simply nodded his head a single time in response to what his friend said.
"Katsuo, I'll let you teach her whatever you feel is necessary for her to know. In return she must to have dinner with us once a month. I'll also need to speak with the girl's mother privately to explain the situation. If your own training takes a hit and you slow down, then you can't train her anymore. Those are all of my conditions for you at the moment, if I think of any others I will inform you. That is all." Shouta then pulled a sleeping bag out from appearingly nowhere and quickly fell asleep inside of it.
Katsuo then stood up from the couch making it squeak slightly. He stretched his arms up and then looked at Izumi. "Well, tomorrow is your next training day. Make sure you sleep properly tonight. I'll walk you home so let's start moving." He then waited for Izumi to get up and walked to the door. She took a few more seconds to meet him at the door. The two of them put on their shoes and Katsuo walked Izumi home. He waved her inside then turned around and walked back to his home.
He walked in and saw that Hizashi's shoes weren't at the door so he knew he had left. He went upstairs to his bedroom. He closed the door behind him and changed into his pajamas. He then crawled into his bed and tried to fall asleep. However, his mind was currently running at a few times faster than light speed trying to figure out what all he should teach Izumi. So far his list and reasons were:
Sleeping Techniques: They can decrease the amount of time needed to sleep and thus could speed up training, however because of the difficultly of the techniques he'd have to wait for a break from school to teach her them.
Neck Capture Gear: Even without the rewinding effect of the Aizawa's quirks it is still possible to rewind the neck version. However the arm version requires a quirk to use so she could only learn the neck version. While she will never be able to use it as effectively as the Aizawa's due to the lack of a recoiling effect she can still become adept at fighting with the weapon as it will definitively give her an advantage over opponents with close ranged quirks.
Gun Head Martial Arts: As one of the both easiest to learn but hardest to master martial arts and it's all purpose nature, it would most likely be a useful asset for her to use in combat. Combined with the Capture Gear, she would be a dangerous opponent to face off against for anyone with a Mutation or a close combat quirk.
He would of course get her some test gear, but that would come later. He then realized that it was almost midnight. Not wanting bags under his eyes he quickly fell asleep.
