Inquisitor

- Chapter: 19 -

Katsuo looked around at the other students in his exam area. Both Izumi and Katsuki weren't in the same testing area as him. He started taking notes of those he thought would pass. 'Let's see what they have, obvious mutant earphone jack based sound quirk, some type of steel based manipulation, and... oh?'

Katsuo stopped looking around when he saw the purple haired boy. The boy's hair was sticking straight up and he had visible signs of sleep deprivation. Katsuo instantly felt his curiosity peak when he guessed the boys quirk, a form of mind control.

The boy wore a dejected look, and Katsuo could guess why. They were getting tested on how easily they can destroy robots, thus his quirk would be useless. Even if he used it to have others destroy the robots, the points would go to the people he controlled, not him. 

'Still, that look of dejection reminds me of Izumi. Well, let's see what he's like personality wise.' Katsuo then walked over to the purple headed kid, who gave him a strange look. Katsuo didn't worry about the look and just asked a question. "Your quirk isn't very well suited for this type of stuff is it?"

The boy looked at him in mild surprise. "How do you know what my quirk is? Did someone tell you?"

Katsuo tilted his head at the purple haired boy and asked another question. "Whats your name? It'll be hard to talk without knowing that. I'm Katsuo Aizawa."

The boy seemed to get a little angry at Katsuo's response, but he still gave his name. "Hitoshi Shinso."

Katsuo smiled at the fact that he had gotten the boy, now know as Shinso, to give his name to him willingly. "I've been looking at quirks my whole life, it's rather easy for me to figure out the general idea of what someone's quirk is, although more intimate details about the quirk are still mysteries to me. Well... until I try using it."

Shinso was, although he'd never admit it, a bit spooked of who this kid was. But, before they could continue their conversation a loud voice yelled. "START"

Before any of the other examinee's even realized what that was Katsuo started running into the mock city. Pulling his mask off his side and putting it on. When the mask covered his face he took a deep breath and felt everything fall away.

Katsuo's mask wasn't abnormal in anyway. It didn't contain any special gas that boosted performance or anything like that. It was just a normal mask. Sure it had state of the art filters so he could breathe practically anywhere just fine, and several different types of vision settings. But, when Katsuo wears his mask he changes. He forces himself to change how he behaves. When he wears his mask he forces all of his emotions to go away, allowing him to focus only on his goal, whatever it may be.

He does this for several reasons, the main one being that he subconsciously prevents himself from using his quirk without consent. However when he is emotionless he is able to use his quirk without dirtying his conscious.

Katsuo was the first student in the entire exam to get through the gates into their respective testing grounds. He immediately turned at the first corner and saw a 1-point robot. It dashed at him with slightly surprising speed. Katsuo however reacted faster and jumped up, put his hands on the robots head and went over the robot. The bot started to slow down and turn, but was quickly stopped by Katsuo's capture band hitting the button to turn it off.

He landed on the ground running to a different area. He knew that the robots would get harder the further in he got, not to mention that close to the gate would be crowded by people with less mobility. He started moving on the building's roofs to get a better view. He reached the top with the help of his capture bands, scaling the building almost like a lizard.
