[Your POV]
I woke up with a yawn. The sun was starting to set. I blinked several times before looking up at Revali, who still had an arm around me, staring forward at the sunset. "Hey, Revali." I said tiredly.
"Hello." He said, looking down at me. "Get up. There's another place I want to take you." He helped me up and I climbed on his back. In about no time, we were at some place I recognized. The soft piano music played in my head as Revali landed at the entrance of the Flight Range. I shivered and rubbed my arms. "Do not worry. You will be warm inside." He spoke in an oddly cool tone as the sun set, making the air even colder.
We walked into the Flight Range to see a warm fire. I sat down next to it as Revali draped a wool-like jacket over my shoulders. I blushed, remembering what Revali told me about the night. About how emotions become more open when the moon rises. Was this Revali showing a more vulnerable side? Maybe...
The moon shone over the Flight Range. I watched as Revali stood at the edge of the range, staring up at the sky. My breath hitched when I heard footsteps coming. My head whipped to the left to see a white Rito. "...Teba!?" I cried, standing up. Revali looked over at me and the new Rito. He had white and black markings and bore a huge resemblance to Teba. "...I'm sorry." I remembered that if I was here Pre-Calamity Ganon, Teba wouldn't have been born yet.
"My name is not Teba." The Rito said. "My name is Tuva. But that isn't a bad name." Tuva strode over to Revali. "Champion Revali."
"General Tuva." Revali said, nodding his head.
"I heard of your arrival, but I could not find you. I bring news. More powerful monsters have been spotted closer to the village as of recently."
"Powerful monsters?" Revali asked.
"Lynels, Stone Talus', Hinoxes, and more." Tuva said, eyeing me. "This information has been taken from the scouts in the last twenty-four hours. I am surprised that you and the human made it to the Rito Village with just a Yiga Clan member getting in the way."
"Yes." Revali said. "Also, their name is (Y/N)." He gestured to me and I stood up straight. "(Y/N), I think this is the perfect time to train. Pull out your claymore." As Revali went looking for a sword, I pulled out my claymore. I looked it up and down, trying to figure out how to hold it.
"Here." Tuva said, standing behind me, positioning the sword in my hand, his feathers gliding around my hands. I managed to catch a glimpse of Revali, who took one look at us and frowned, finally pulling out a sword.
"T-Thanks, Tuva." I said. He nodded and stepped away. Revali approached me with the sword.
"Do you know anything about sword fighting?" He asked me. I shrugged. He rolled his eyes. "Feet apart, knees bent, sword at the ready." He put himself in position and I mirrored him. He swung the sword and it clashed with mine. We continued like this for several hours. Revali would often touch me, forcefully putting me into different positions. His expression seemed bitter almost the whole time we practiced. Tuva finally stepped in.
"You know, I think (Y/N) has gotten pretty used to this whole sword-fighting thing, and I think you should start teaching them 'Buddy-Techniques'." Tuva said.
"One thing at a time." Revali said. "Too much could mess with their small mind." I was about to protest when I realized that Revali had said that...quite seriously. There was no banter-like tone, not even a hint of snarkiness. He just sounded disappointed. I felt a crack form in my heart as Revali and I continued the sword practice. Tuva eventually had to leave and the two of us were left alone. I felt a lump form in my throat when I tried talking to him. His sword suddenly crashed into mine so hard that I fell back, the claymore flying from my hands, landing on the edge of the landing. Revali stood above me. "..."
I looked back up at him. "Revali...?" I whispered. His eyes softened and his face lost its hardness. He shook his head and went to pick up the claymore. He set it on the side of the wall. "Revali, you seem really tense."
"I am not tense. I am just worried." He said, putting the swords away, not making eye contact with me.
"Worried about what?" I asked. He remained silent. "Revali." He didn't respond. "Revali!" I stomped forward and gripping his wing. He only glanced at me but didn't pull his wing away. "What are you worried about?"
"About you, okay!?" He cried, pulling his wing away from me, staring me dead in the eye. "You couldn't even pull your sword out when you were attacked! What if I wasn't there to take care of that Yiga Clan member!? Or a malfunctioning guardian!? Or something else!?" Seeing the look of sadness on his face made my heart hurt. "Are you strong enough to handle any of those things yourself?"
I looked at the ground, clenching my fist. "No..." I admitted. "And that's why I need you!" He looked taken aback. "I need you to teach me! To help me become stronger so I can defend myself!" He watched as I reached for the claymore. "Please, teach me, Revali!"
He gave a sigh. "I do want to teach you, (Y/N)." Revali said. "But...I feel that I have not been totally honest with you."
"About what?" I asked, concerned.
"About the dangers of Hyrule." Revali said, casting his eyes to the fire. "Calamity Ganon...is rising. There's no doubt that we, the Champions and the Princess, will have to face him. We have come to a problem though. Princess Zelda...has not found a way to seal Ganon away for good. Ganon's darkness is spreading...fast. It's strange. It seems that his growth has become stronger as of recently. It's almost like the world is slowly breaking. That's why..." He turned to me. "That's why I feel the need to protect you and train you to be strong."
I looked him in the eyes and held out the claymore. "Thank you for being honest, Revali. So please...train me! I want to be as strong as you!"
"Oh, you'll never be as strong as me." Revali said with a smirk. "But I can help you settle for second best." That's more like it...
