[Revali's POV]

"Revali! Revali!" (Y/N) called. (Y/N), please just be quiet and ride! We need to hurry back to the Rito Village! I also...need to get you somewhere safe. I picked up the pace, knowing (Y/N) would follow. They're strong and will be able to adapt to this pace change. I believe in them.

"C'mon, Aurora." I whispered. The horse seemed hesitant at first, but continued riding forward at a higher speed. I could hear (Y/N) calling my name behind me. "We won't go too far. Just up ahead we'll stop and wait for them to catch up." We passed an empty clearing and found a nice stream surrounded by rocks and flowers. I hopped off Aurora and walked over to the stream, taking a drink. I thought about how angry I was not too long ago. How I treated (Y/N) back at Zora Domain...was awful. I gave a sigh as I rubbed a feathery hand over my face, shaking. No, I can't let my guard down, especially after what happened with that Lynel. I was...pathetic. "I was supposed to protect, (Y/N)!" I angrily kicked a loose rock, sending it down the stream. Aurora was startled and backed away from me. "No, Aurora!" But she ran away, through the trees. "AGH!" I yelled again, kicking another rock.

Now Aurora's gone. I was angry with myself. I treated everyone in Zora Domain like they were just getting in the way and when I tried to protect (Y/N), they ended up doing that for ME! I tried taking deep breaths, but it was so hard! (Y/N) had told me to calm down, but I can't! I angrily punched the ground, sitting myself down on a rock. (Y/N) should be here by now. Where are they? I stood up, taking my bow off my back. I know I was supposed to keep my guard up, but...my mind couldn't help but wander to (Y/N).

(Y/N) was the person I knew so long ago in the Sheikah Slate, they had to be. (Y/N) had the same hair color, eye color, skin color, everything. (Y/N)'s funny and curious, like the person in the Sheikah Slate. (Y/N)'s beautiful and kind, but strong, like the person in the Sheikah Slate. But most importantly...they had the same backstory. The person in the Sheikah Slate complained about having parents who would always force them 'make friends', even if they were bullies. Their parents put them in toxic situations for their own benefit, not their child's. And lastly...I love them. I love (Y/N). I loved them back when we were kids, and I still love them now. But I doubt they could love me after what I did back at Zora Domain. Oh no...I hope they...don't think I abandoned them...No...they can't think that...

"(Y/N)!" I called, gripping my bow, readying an arrow in the string. "(Y/N)! I'm here!" I ran through the trees. "Aurora! Ares!" As I continued through the trees, I eventually found the place where (Y/N) and I seperated. I looked down at the grass and froze. I put my bow back on my back, leaning down and picking up the claymore. Why is this here? It should be in (Y/N)'s belt. Did they drop it or something? I gripped the hilt of the sword, getting butterflies in my stomach. No, I, Revali, the Rito Champion, do not get butterflies in my stomach. It is simply...not possible. I got on my knees, scanning the ground. I found (Y/N)'s footprints in the grass. It was hard to keep track of because of all the trees and roots that got in the way, but I was able to follow them to a clearing. My body stiffened as I heard the sound of rustling not too far from here.

"REVALI! PLEASE, REVALI!" I familiar voice screamed. That's (Y/N)!

"(Y/N)! CAN YOU HEAR ME!?" I yelled. I ran towards their voice, but then stopped when an earthquake suddenly shook the ground. I looked up at the sky to see the eye of a Hinox trampling down all the trees. It's going after (Y/N)! I got down on one knee, gripping the sword with one hand and touching the ground with the other. Revali's Gale...NOW! My feathers blew upwards as I released, becoming one with the gale. I flew high in the sky, higher than the Hinox. "HEY!" I threw the sword at its eye when it turned around, cutting right through. That's when I noticed the monster was glowing purple, eye and all. My eyes widened as I pulled out my bow, drawing back the string. I shot it in the eye, going rapid fire. The Hinox roared and before I knew it, its hand was up in the sky, swatting me to the ground. I dropped my bow, smacking my back on a tree stump and rolling across the grass, into the clearing. "AGH!" I screamed in pain. The injuries from the Lynel were not doing well. The Hinox ran over to me, reaching down. As I attempted to crawl away pathetically, it pawed at me with its hands, eventually trapping me in its strong grip.

Everytime I struggled, the Hinox's grip on me strengthened. If I can't defeat it, I can at least distract it from (Y/N) and they can get away. If I can't be the hero in defeating Calamity Ganon, then I can hopefully be (Y/N)'s hero. Black spots began to appear in front of my face as I lost consciousness. Was this what it felt like to die?

"I...love you...(Y/N)..." I whispered as I closed my eyes and lost consciousness.

"(Y/N)! You're here...you're really here!" I cried, running up to the kid in the Sheikah Slate. "I-I mean, yeah, I guess it's cool you're here in Hyrule."

They did tell me their name...I just couldn't remember it...because it had been so long ago...

"Yeah! I don't even know how I got here, Revali!" (Y/N) said, running up to me, wrapping their arms around me. "I was just sleeping and then, BOOM, I'm here now! But I'm so happy to see you!" (Y/N) hugged me tightly. "Your feathers are so soft!"

"N-No they aren't!" I cried, trying to defend myself.

"Hehe! They're as soft as you~" They said, tickling me. I smiled, and that smile turned into laughter. "You're such a goof, Revali!"

"I'll only allow it because it's you." I said.

They were in Hyrule at one point... Why don't I remember this?

"Here, I'll take you to that hill I showed you." I said, reaching into my pouch. "Weird...the Sheikah Slate was in here! The one I talk to you through!"

"Is it this one?" They asked, pointing to the Sheikah Slate on their arm.

"H-How did it get there!?" I cried, getting a slight voice crack, making (Y/N) giggle. "Is it stuck on there?" I grabbed the Sheikah Slate, trying to pull it off.

"O-OW!" (Y/N) shrieked. I immediately let go, backing away.

"I'm...I'm sorry. I didn't know it would hurt you..." I apologized.

"It's okay, Revali." (Y/N) said. "You didn't know!" They're so understanding. "Anyways, show me the hill!"

"Okay!" I said, nervously taking (Y/N)'s hand in my feathery one.

(Y/N)...I can't die...I need to tell you how much I love you. How much I need you.

"See the stars?" (Y/N) asked, lying down on the grass next to me.

"Well, I'm not blind, (Y/N). Of course I can see the stars." I said, making (Y/N) giggle again.

"You're a goof." They said, scooting closer to me. Even though we were just kids, I knew I had a pretty big crush on (Y/N). But they don't live in Hyrule.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" I asked. They turned to me, rolling on their side. "Do you think...you'll stay in Hyrule?"

"I stay as long as I can, Revali." (Y/N) said, giving me beak a little boop, sticking out their tongue. "I really love hanging out with you."

"L-Love?" I stuttered. "I-I mean...this place is like a heaven to you?"

"A dream come true." (Y/N) said. "Hey, Revali, can I take a picture of the stars?"

"I mean, I don't see why not." I said.

"Can you help me? I can't reach the button." They said. I looked at the Sheikah Slate and pressed the camera button. When it opened, a picture of the night sky appeared. I pressed a button, taking and saving the picture. "Thank you, Revali!"

"It was no problem, really." I said. "But you better cherish that photo. That's a picture of the Hyrule night sky."

"I thought you said it was 'eh'." (Y/N) said.

"Well...it's better when you're here..." I muttered to myself.

I can't die. I can't die. I need to tell (Y/N). I need to tell them! I can't die! I CAN'T DIE!
