Chapter 4

'Poison'

"Please, Zia. 'Wag mo akong pilitin." Tumingin ako kay Wilder na ayaw talaga magpaliwanag. I crossed my arms at umupo sa sofa. It's like this. I'm always the one who doesn't know what's going on kasi hindi naman nila pinapaliwanag sa akin.

All they say is that it's for my own good. But can I have at least the right to know what happened? Niyakap ko ang mga tuhod ko at nagmukmok.

"Ugh! Don't be like that. Alam mo namang hindi kita matitiis." Tumingin ako kay Wilder dahil sa sinabi niya at hindi na siya pinansin. What's the point? He's not even going to explain it to me anyway. Tumalikod na ako sa kanya at sinandal ang ulo ko sa sofa.

Narinig ko naman ang pag-aalburuto ni Wilder sa likuran ko.

"Kung bakit ba kasi binigyan ako ng pinsan na kasing ganda at kasing cute mo." Sumulyap ako sa kanya at nakita ko siyang nakapameywang at frustrated na nakatingin sa akin.

"Umalis ka na. Hindi mo naman sasabihin sa akin. Go, I'll figure this out myself," sabi ko at tumayo na pero napangiti agad ako sa sunod na sinabi ni Wilder.

"Fine! Fine! Just don't give me that damn puppy eyes or I swear makakalimutan kong pinsan kita." Humarap agad ako kay Wilder at ngumiti. Sinapo niya ang noo niya at umupo sa sofa. Inis siyang tumingin sa akin habang naghihintay lang ako na magsalita siya.

Wilder was obviously hesitant. I know from that look in his eyes that as much as he wants to tell me, I know that he's also cautious of what it might do to me. Knowing how my memories of Blu got erased.

Ngumiti nalang ako kay Wilder at tinapik na ang balikat niya. "On second thought, I don't want to know. I know Mom and Dad did it to protect me like they always do." Nakita kong natigilan agad si Wilder dahil sa sinabi ko.

"Ang ayaw ko lang ay 'yong pinarusahan pa nila si Blu kahit wala naman siyang kasalanan. I'm a little stronger now. So, I hope na hindi na 'to mangyari ulit." Humarap na ako sa fireplace at hinawakan ang dibdib ko.

"I had a hint a long time ago. That before I was able to make an invisibility shield, they also removed someone from my memory. Noong una, akala ko si Kuya Ash ang tinanggal nila dahil si Kuya Ash naman 'yong rason kung bakit ako tumakbo. But I think it was someone else. Someone else was the reason why I had an attack that night and that someone else was the one they removed from my memory." Nakatingin ako sa apoy habang nagsasalita.

Umupo naman si Wilder sa tabi ko at nakinig sa mga sinasabi ko.

After thinking so hard and seeing what happened to Blu, I connected the dots. After I have an attack, new things happen to my body, which makes me prone to more danger. That someone else was the reason for my invisibility shield, so they removed that person.

And then Blu came and they thought that he was the reason for the lightning and the strength, so, they also removed him from my memory, hoping that these new abilities I develop gets removed as well.

Because Mommy thinks that the more abilities I gain, the more dangerous my life will be, just like hers. Because after I was born, the doctors and healers had a problem figuring out what I am.

I am not a hybrid because I don't have several abilities. I am not a vampire like my dad. I am not a wolf like Tito Wolfie. I am not like any of them. Being able to make an invisibility shield doesn't make me a guardian like Tito Matthew. Being able to run fast and have strength doesn't entirely make me a vampire like my dad.
