you have a panic attack

You stood in the middle of the room, trying to ignore the sweaty bodies pushing against you.

Jade convinced you to come along to a party with her tonight and at first it was kinda fun, but now all you wanna do is hide away under the covers in the safety of your own bed.

Your mind was racing and your heartbeat was unsteady. You felt dizzy and you couldn't catch your breath. You looked around for Jade but you couldn't find her anywhere. You became too overwhelmed and saw that there was no one in the backyard so you opened the patio door and went to sit on the ground. You buried your head in your lap and tried to steady your breathing but you felt like you couldn't.

"Y/n? What are you doing out here?" You heard Jade say as she closed the patio door and walked towards you. You couldn't answer her though. Your heart was racing and there was a pain in your chest that kept getting worse and it made you panic even more. Jade sat down on the ground next to you and took one of your sweaty hands in hers. "Oh, hey, shh."

You started to shake, your lungs feeling like they were closing in and you couldn't get any air inside them. "Y/n breathe." You shook your head, feeling frantic and terrified. "I can't. I can't." You panicked, repeating the words under your breath as you began to cry. Jade grabbed your hands and pulled you in her arms, trying to think of anything she could to help you through this.

You felt like you had no control, the panic attack taking over you completely. "Just focus on me and try to breathe. In and out, lovely." She kept ahold of your hands, your fingers interlocked with hers as you attempted to control your breathing. You put your head on her lap and she listened as you took deep breaths, finally feeling like you could breathe again.

"C'mon, let's go home." She whispered a few minutes later. She helped you stand and wrapped her arms around you from behind to guide you through the crowd until you got out to the car, and that made you feel a lot better.
