she comes home from tour on your birthday

You tried to smile and enjoy the party your friends had thrown you, but it was hard when all you really wanted was to be was anywhere but there.

A promo tour was keeping you and Jade apart on this special day. She had fought so hard to try to be here with you but when she face-timed you last night with tears in her eyes you knew she wouldn't be able to make it.

And now, looking around at everyone standing around you singing you happy birthday when it didn't feel like a happy birthday, just felt disappointing.

"Well? Are you gonna make a wish?" One of your friends said as she clapped her hand on your shoulder. But you shook your head. It was pointless because the one thing you wished for the most wasn't gonna be here.

Or, so you thought.

Because the next thing you knew the front door was thrown open. All heads turned to the doorway, gasps heard from all around you when you saw it was Jade who had ran inside.

Without a word she ran over to you and pulled you into her arms. You rested your head on your shoulder as tears welled up in your eyes. "You made it! How?"

She hooked her fingers under your chin and stared into your teary eyes and that's when you noticed she had some tears in her eyes, too. "It took a lot of convincing but I managed to get out of the promos for today and tomorrow. I gotta go back soon but I couldn't miss your special day. I wouldn't miss it for the world."

She leaned down and planted a kiss to your forehead. She looked at the cake in front of you and saw the candles were still lit. "What are you waiting for, pretty girl? Make a wish!"

She put her arm around you and her chin on your shoulder as you watched the flames on the candles dance for a moment as you thought to yourself. You closed your eyes and blew out the candles, letting out a few giggles when Jade kissed your cheek a few times while your friends cheered.

"What'd you wish for?" You turned your head and stole a kiss from her lips. "Nothing."

She frowned at you. "What? Why not? You wasted a perfectly good wish!"

"No, I didn't. Because all I really wanted is standing right here in front of me." You wrapped your arm around her neck and stared into her beautiful eyes. "I'm so happy you made it, Jade."

And as everyone around you became lost in conversation or laughter, you both became lost in each other. All that mattered to you was her being here with you. And now that she was, you didn't wanna let her go again.
