Ever so slowly you rolled out of bed, slipping on your silk robe and cushioned house shoes. Shuffling drowsily down the hallway, you started your late morning routine by going to the front door. The cool morning air brushed against your face waking you up a bit as you stepped outside. You squinted your eyes immediately, shielding then from the harsh sun peeking through the clouds, your sight not having adjusted yet making them sensitive to the bright light. Making your way to the mailbox, you pulled out whatever had arrived while you were asleep, not bothering to look at the stack of mail until you made it back inside your house.
Mindlessly flipping through the small heap, you spotted a lot of junk mail from credit card companies or automobile companies trying to sell stuff—the usual. You paused your almost rhythmic movement when you spotted a white envelope with metallic gold decorations along the corners.

"Huh." You muttered in confusion, glancing at the address on the envelope, your eyes widening in shock.
It was from the castle.
Your gaze moved to the middle of the envelope to check and make sure it was sent to the correct address. Sure enough, in perfect penmanship was your home address.
To Miss Y/n L/n
No way. That was your address and that's your name right there on the envelope. Was this real? Were you meant to receive this?
You wasted no time tearing open the envelope, pulling out the beautifully decorated invitation inside.

Miss L/n,
You are cordially invited to the royal ball taking place at Kang Castle on Friday night at 8:00 PM. Dress code is formal. Please bring this invitation with you.

Needing someone to talk to, you grabbed your phone and immediately dialed your friend's number.
"Hello?"
"Hongjoong!" You exclaimed, not meaning to be so loud.
"Good grief, Y/n." He muttered. You could almost see him pulling the phone away from his ear.
"Sorry." You apologized.
"What's got you all excited?"
"You're not going to believe this but I just received a letter from the castle."
"You mean Kang Castle?"
"The one and only. It's an invitation to the ball."
"You're joking. How did you get invited there?"
"I don't know. I'm not rich nor am I royalty so I have no clue why I got an invitation." You responded, staring at the embellished card in your hand.
"I can't believe this." Hongjoong laughed. "You do know what that means, right?"
"Um... no?"
"You get to meet the prince!"
"What? No, Hongjoong. This has to be a mistake. I'm no one. My address must have gotten mixed up with someone else's. What should I do?" You asked frantically.
"Go." He answered simply.
"What?"
"Go to the ball. Thank about it, Y/n. This is your only chance to go out and live the life you've always wanted. Just pretend you're rich or something. Go and have fun! Maybe you can try and make Yeosang fall for you while you're at it."
"Yeah right." You laughed.
"At least go and enjoy yourself."
"Should I?"
"Yes. How many times do I have to say it for you to hear me?"
"Okay, okay. I'll go. What am I supposed to wear, though? Everyone will probably be wearing fancy dresses and I have nothing."
"I think you're forgetting who you're talking to." You could hear the grin in Hongjoong's voice. "I can make you one."
"The ball is in a week."
"You act like I'm incapable of making a dress in a week."
"Are you?" You questioned.
"Absolutely not. Come over right now. I can get your measurements and we'll talk about what kind of dress you want."
"Alright. We'll see if you're up to the challenge."
