San and Seonghwa stood in an alleyway together, both of them clad in their usual all-black, leather ensemble. "Okay, we're here. Now what?" San questioned somewhat impatiently. "We find our next target." The older answered simply. "Alright." Sighed San as he straightened his back, popping his neck. "Who is it?" "The file said-" Seonghwa paused, his head snapping towards the end of the alley, alerted by noise in the distance. "Someone's coming." "We need to disguise ourselves—quickly." San urged.
You decided to take the alternative route home today; just a quick shortcut through the alleyway and you would be cutting your walking time by about five minutes. Unbeknownst to you, there were two demons standing in the alley just ahead. You turned the corner, coming to a stumbling halt when you spotted a black cat and a dark-colored snake in the middle of the alley, the both of them hissing at each other. "A snake? Are you kidding me? How stupid can you be?" San snapped. "I'm sorry, I panicked! This is what I usually shift to." Seonghwa defended. "You could have picked something a little less conspicuous." You didn't know they were communicating. To you, it just sounded like they were hissing at each other. Assuming the cat was in distress, you built up the courage to save it. "Hey!" You shouted. "Get away from that cat." "Crap." Seonghwa hissed, slithering away from the human girl shooing him away. He didn't want to abandon his partner, but he certainly didn't want to have to deal with a human finding out his true identity. "Don't let her find out what you are." Seonghwa told the younger demon as he made his escape. "Come here, baby." You cooed, lifting the feline up off the pavement. San couldn't do anything except let you take him. If he shifted right now he'd surely scare you. The only thing he could do was play along and be compliant, at least until he could get away.
When you brought San home, the first thing he tried to do was get a feel for the layout of your house, seeing if there was any easy escape routes. I need to get back to Seonghwa as quickly as possible. He thought to himself. "Kitty." You called out. "Don't you want something to eat?" He saw you holding up a pack of sandwich ham and, while he didn't necessarily need to eat, what with him being a demon and all, he couldn't possibly turn down the offer. Hm. Well, I guess a snack wouldn't hurt. He thought and trotted over to you. You smiled as you gently stroked the top of the cat's head. He was purring loudly as he practically inhaled the ham you gave to him. Though San was a demon, he very much enjoyed human food. It was something he liked to indulge in when on the job. Seonghwa often nagged him for "wasting time" but if San had to deal with work and responsibilities he was going to treat himself while doing so. "Is that good?" You asked softly. He purred in response. "Good. Well, I'm Y/n and you..." You trailed off, not knowing why you introduced yourself to a cat. "You don't have any tags so I'm not sure what your name is. I'll just call you Kitty until I think of one. How's that?" San just continued to eat, he didn't really care what you called him. "Alright. Kitty it is."
