“But why can’t I know the reason now?” Elizabeth whines buried into her mother’s chest.

“Because that’s not how the world works sadly,” Elizabeth’s mom replies flattening out Elizabeth’s hair.

“Well it sucks, I just don’t know what to do,” Elizabeth murmurs into her mom’s shirt.

“Well this hell will be over soon. Soon we will be home, safe and sound,” her mom coos.

“That ‘soon’ needs to come sooner, “Elizabeth replies clenching her fists slightly.

“I know..  I know.. Did the nurse recommend anything to you?” Elizabeth’s mom asks curiously.

“Umm, yeah,” Elizabeth replies vaguely.

“What did she recommend?” Elizabeth’s mom asks softly.

“She said that I should have it removed,” Elizabeth says sniffling lightly.

“Ok, well considering it’s her job to figure out what’s best for you how about you just have it removed?” Elizabeth mom suggests with a slight smile trying to make Elizabeth feel better.

“Yeah, but she things could go wrong if it were removed,” Elizabeth says with worry.

“What could go wrong Elizabeth?” Elizabeth’s mom asks slightly annoyed.

“She said that another organ could be damaged and that if may need an organ transplant if my body rejects me not having a spleen,” Elizabeth explains with fear in her eyes.

“Well sometimes you need to take a little risk in life,” Elizabeth’s mom replies meeting with Elizabeth’s eyes.

“You really think I should?” Elizabeth asks.

“Yes, these poor doctors are waiting for an answer. Plus if anything goes wrong it will be a huge mistake on their part,” Elizabeth’s mom replies.

“Ok,” Elizabeth replies with a giggle.

“So just to be clear, you’re getting it removed?” Elizabeth’s mom asks.

“Yeah,” Elizabeth mumbles.

“Ok,” her mom replies and begins to walk out the door.

“Wait!” Elizabeth screams just as her mom begins to shut the door behind her.

“What now?” Elizabeth’s mom asks annoyed walking back into the room.

“Before you tell them my answer can I please talk to a few people? Just in case they make me go right into surgery first thing tomorrow?” Elizabeth pleads.

“Elizabeth it’s like nine o’clock at night, who would come?” her mom asks trying to hide a yawn.

“You would be surprised, Can I?” Elizabeth asks her eyes twinkling.

“Fine, only until eleven though. You need some kind of sleep,” her mom replies.

“Thank you,” Elizabeth replies with a huge smile grabbing her phone.
