Niall sits in the bathroom listening to his delicate, warm tears making a pitter platter noise in the metal sink below him. He sniffles slightly and lifts his head to be met with a face that looked like a young boy who had lost his parent in a grocery store. He soon realizes that he is not staring at a ‘random boy’, he’s staring at himself. He stares at himself; he sees how vulnerable he really is. He realizes this is real life; what happened to Elizabeth did in fact happen.

Niall’s POV

I swear to God if she dies, I die to. No thought about it, I don’t want to be in a world without Elizabeth. It’s MY fault she’s hurt right now. I promised myself I would do anything to protect her and I couldn’t even do that

With that last thought racing through his head Niall wiped his warm, salty tears from his eyes. He quickly ruffled with his freshly dyed blonde hair. He took one last look in the mirror; his once happy eyes had been drained of every inc h of joy and had been replaced with puffy eyes around the edges. With one swift move he opens the door plastering a smile on his face.

Elizabeth’s POV

Wo, they already have a cast on my arm, well that didn’t take long. But I wonder what’s wrong with my stomach; I mean people don’t usually bruise in places for no reason. A better question, is my head ok?  All I really remember in the moment of panic is my head had been losing blood, and it seemed like a lot of it by how people were reacting. I wonder where Niall is… What if he got hurt? Oh god, please don’t let him be hurt. Why isn’t anyone in this room with me? The guy that just threw me off the building with himself is right there, in the bed next to me.

Elizabeth looks over pushing the dividing curtain timidly. She sees Jackson with multiple wires and machines beeping. He has two tubes in his mouth going down his throat. If Elizabeth hadn’t heard the nurses on the other side of the curtain she would have never known that he was there.. Elizabeth watches as his chest slowly rises and goes back down. All she is focused on is his heartbeat on the monitor. All she does is just listen to it; focusing on every breath, every heartbeat.

Elizabeth’s POV

I wonder if all of those wires and tunes are keeping him alive or if… he did die from the impact.

Elizabeth continues to stare at Jackson waiting for his eyes to fly open, waiting for any sign that he is alive without all the machines.

~~10 minutes later~~

Elizabeth hears two feet pounding on the ground down the hallway coming closer and closer to her room. It sounds just like when Jackson was forcing her on the roof; Elizabeth is immediately flooded with memories of something that happened a few hours ago.  Elizabeth starts to breathe heavily as the steps come closer and closer to her room. All that Elizabeth could hear is her heart monitor beeping like crazy. Just as Elizabeth’s eye sight begins to get fuzzy and black the door swings open.

Elizabeth looks up only to be met with the broken eyes of Niall. Niall looks at Elizabeth and doesn’t know what to do; he has never seen someone have an anxiety attack let alone helped someone through one. All Niall does is stand there dumbfounded looking like a deer in headlights for two minutes but quickly snaps out of it. He grabs Elizabeth’s hand and gently glides his thumb over her hand slowly calming her down.
