The next day
“Mom?” Elizabeth calls from her room.
“What? What’s wrong?” Elizabeth’s mom asks rushing into Elizabeth’s hospital room.
“I-I have a question,” Elizabeth asks nervously fumbling with her hands.
“What’s your question?” Elizabeth’s mom responds in a curious tone.
“Well, err.. why didn’t anyone bother to mention something about my spleen yesterday?” the nurse said she needs an answer tomorrow,” Elizabeth explains further into detail after her mom gave her a confused look.
“She needs an answer tomorrow? Oh god she said we had a lot of time to think,” Elizabeth’s mom mutters under her breath.
“What?” Elizabeth asks looking her mother in the eyes.
“Nothing, honestly Jackson being next to you really set off your dad so we forgot to talk about it,” her mom explains.
“So you forgot about something that involves your daughter’s health? I see how it is,” Elizabeth replies hurt holding back her tears.
“That’s not what I meant Elizabeth Rose Jones, and you know that,” her mom replies harshly.
Elizabeth just sits there blinking back the tears, trying to not let them pour over.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you, I’m just so stressed out,” her mom begins to ramble off.
“Yeah, because of me,” Elizabeth mumbles.
“No, not because of you. It’s just that I have a lot of work related stuff going on,” Elizabeth’s mom begins to explain.
“So in other words me being in the hospital is taking away from ‘work related stuff’ and adding to your stress,” Elizabeth interrupts.
“Elizabeth, you aren’t a problem. You aren’t adding to my stress. Please just understand that,” Elizabeth’s mom begs.
“Whatever,” Elizabeth snaps not wanting to start another argument with her mom.
“So my spleen? What are we going to do?” Elizabeth asks quietly looking at her mom.
“It’s honestly up to you. I mean it’s your body, which makes it your spleen,” her mom responds.
“But what if I do get the surgery to have it removes and it back fire and they end up doing something wrong?” Elizabeth begins to ramble off.
“They are paid enough money not to mess up. And if they do then will sue until we win the case,” Elizabeth’s mom responds trying to not think if that were to happen.
“But doctors are human, they can make mistakes,” Elizabeth replies worried.
“Well we will get you the best doctor we can find so he won’t mess up,” Elizabeth’s mom responds trying to calm her daughter down.
“But that kind of doctor will cost way too much money, I don’t want to put you and dad into debt,” Elizabeth replies equally as worried as before.
“Well then stop worrying,” her mom replies a bit harsh.
“Easier said than done,” Elizabeth mumbles to herself.
“Hmmm?” Elizabeth mom asks facing Elizabeth.
“Nothing, ummm, can we please get a nurse in here?” Elizabeth asks quickly.
