I had paced the cell for what seemed like hours. "We could pull the bars out of the window and... I don't know where I'm going with this. It's not like we can climb out!" Rainy exclaimed sadly.
I sighed, exhausted and annoyed with every living thing.
"Wait, I thought I remembered reading something that said that fighting-magic magicians could conjure up weapons from anywhere. Can you do that?" I asked, turning to Katrina. "Yeah, why?"
I felt a smile play at my lips. "If we had a dagger, or something small and sharp, we could wedge it through the slit on the door, and try to unhinge the lock." Rainy looked up at me. "I guess that's as good a try as any." She said.
Katrina smiled. She closed her eyes, held out her palm, and in a few seconds, a dagger appeared. "That was cool." Rainy said, smiling. "Thanks." Katrina said, handing me the dagger.
"Be careful with that. It's from a rich lady's house in England." Katrina said. I held the dagger out from me. "What?" I hissed. Katrina laughed. "I'm kidding! I pulled it from my cabin, okay?" She said.
I smiled as I walked over to the door. The dagger was extra thin, or so it seemed. It slipped right though the door. The only problem was, I couldn't find the lock.
I slid the dagger up and down the side of the door several times. Then, I hit something. Something clicked and I felt the door shift. "I hit something." I mumbled, concentrating on the task.
I lifted the dagger higher and higher, but nothing more was happening. The dagger got caught on something, and I couldn't pull it free. "Crap." I said, yanking at the dagger.
"Well, that worked." Rainy said. "Let me try." Katrina said, standing. I moved and let her mess with the dagger.
She yanked it out easily, and handed it back to me. "Weakling." She said, shaking her head and laughing. I rolled my eyes and laughed. "So, now what?" Rainy asked. I shook my head.
"I just don't know anymore."
I paced the cell some more. "Will. You. Stop. That. Rose." Sky snapped. I stopped, but only for a minute. I started pacing again. "Ugggggggggh." Sky moaned.
"What's wrong?" Rainy asked her. Sky glared at her. "Oh, I'm sorry. Have you neglected to notice that we are in a cell?" Sky retorted. Rainy rolled her eyes. "Or that you've lost your magic? Yeah I've noticed, Skylar." She snapped.
"What makes you think-" Sky started, but she stopped mid-sentence. "What?" I asked, staring. I actually stopped pacing.
"I hear something." Sky said, sitting up. Then, right after she said it, the door to our cell burst open. "Jackson?" I asked, astonished. Sure enough, there stood my insane boyfriend, a dagger in hand, in our doorway.
"I suppose that this is the second time I've rescued you?" He said, smirking. I laughed and ran to hug him. "I love you so much." I said, dreading the moment I'd have to let go him. He just hugged me back.
"And your magic?" I asked. Jackson shook his head. "Okay, this is a wonderful reunion and all, but can I ask how you got here?" Rainy asked. Jackson smiled mischievously.
"Let's just say Tanner here is awesome, and of course, so am I." He said, not wanting to elaborate. "Wait, is Tanner with you?" Katrina asked, jumping to her feet. "Yeah, he is." Tanner said, stepping out from behind Jackson.
Katrina ran to him, hugged him, and tilted her head up to kiss him. Through all this, Tanner stood, looking thoroughly shocked. Jackson laughed, watching Tanner's face go from shocked to embarrassed.
"So, what's next?" Rainy asked, standing in the cell next to Sky. Jackson smiled again. "Don't you worry about that. I happen to have talked to some guards before we got here. Turns out Tanner is pretty persuasive." He said.
"Nah. I do still have my magic, though. It proves helpful." Was all Tanner said. "Why do I get the feeling you're not telling me something?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Tanner paled, but Jackson's face remained expressionless.
"Don't you worry about a thing." Jackson said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "We should go. More guards will be coming soon. Also, got a message from Mr. Blackwood. He said magicians are on the way." Tanner said, turning to Jackson.
"Great. Follow me, ladies and gentlemen, for I know the way to our enemy." Jackson said, his orange eyes sparkling.
