There were a handful of students in the class already and a few people lifted their heads to see who had just come in. I recognized a lot of them from the sports festival, one being Midoriya. He was standing next to a shorter girl whose large, curious eyes met mine. Her short brown hair framed her face and I found myself distracted for a moment by her pink cheeks.
"Oh!" Midoriya exclaimed. "That must be our new classmate. Is she friends with Kacchan? Wait -"
Before he could utter another word, Bakugo was up in his face yelling, "Shut up, ya damn nerd!"
Midoriya visibly shrunk at this and began waving his arms frantically. "Sorry! Of course not! It's just that you walked in together! No need to start a fight or anything, right?" He was slowly inching away.
Bakugo scoffed and started walking away. "You know you'd lose that's why you don't want to fight me, stupid Deku. I'd win against any of you damn extras!" He shouted before taking his seat.
"Don't mind him," I heard an upbeat voice say and turned to face a girl whose pink skin and hair immediately drew my attention. That, and what appeared to be misshapen horns protruding through her thick pink locks right above her temples. "He's usually screaming about something or other. You guys fought in the sports festival, right? So you probably already know he has anger issues." She grinned and reached out a hand. "I'm Mina Ashido!"
As I lifted my hand to shake hers, I heard a whoosh as someone approached. "I apologize on behalf of Bakugo's behavior! As class representative, I assure you that our class is respectable!" His movements were swift and his arms swung dramatically in sync with his stride.
"Hey!" Bakugo screeched, "Don't apologize about my behavior! Idiots!"
I heard Kirishima's laugh then and I looked in the direction of the sound to see his bright eyes alight with humor. "He's more worked up than usual this morning. How did you get him so riled up, y/n?"
Mina squealed and began jumping up and down excitedly. "Ooooo! So maybe you two are friends after all, huh? Or maybe more than that if you're getting him so wriled up, as Kirishima put it!"
I nearly choked on my own saliva as Mina wiggled her eyebrows at me suggestively. "No, no, no!" I said and felt my face getting hot at the sudden attention the entire class seemed to be giving me.
"So you don't have a boyfriend then?" I heard a voice say and I looked around, confused, before realizing that the voice was coming from a boy who stood at about half my height. I cringed as I looked down at his creepy smile. A thin line of drool seemed to be leaking down his chin.
I shook my head, more out of shock than to his actual question. "I should get to my seat," I said and took a few steps forward before realizing that I didn't actually know where my assigned seat was.
"Seat number 16," The boy who had identified himself as the class representative said. I gave him an appreciative smile before I realized that the seat he was referring to was right in front of Bakugo.
Great. I thought, as I neared my seat. I avoided eye contact with the other students but felt their eyes on me. I was thankful to be assigned to a corner seat in the classroom, farthest away from the door but closest to the front of the classroom. As much as I had wanted to be tucked away in the back, I was hopeful that this would be better, as it would allow me to focus on my schoolwork and minimize distractions.
However, I couldn't help but feel distracted as I sat down, knowing that he was seated directly behind me. To keep my hands busy, I pulled out my notebook, planner and pack of colorful pens. I grabbed my purple inked pen and began absently doodling in the margins of my open notebook.
"So you like purple, huh?" I turned to see that creepy little boy standing by my desk, leering at me. His hair reminded me of grape soda and was clumped in large balls that lined up in the formation of a mohawk. "Since you don't have a boyfriend, maybe we can go out sometime," His hand moved forward in what I assumed was going to be an attempt to caress my bare leg but before his fingers could make contact with my skin I reached out and clamped my fingers around his wrist. His feelings of lust and desire were overwhelming and for a moment I worried I would vomit.
My grip tightened and I leaned forward as I spoke the words, quietly enough that I hoped no one could hear me. "Touch me and I will break every bone in your hand,"
I didn't need to be making physical contact with him to know that fear surged through him as he pulled away from my grip. At that same moment Mr. Aizawa walked through the doors. "Everyone to their seats," he said and the boy squeaked in surprise before he scuttled away.
Before I turned to face the front of the classroom I could have sworn that through my peripherals I saw Bakugo smile.
