Bakugo's POV

Why is it taking so goddamn long? I thought, feeling my irritation grow as the minutes turned into hours. She should have come back by now. Why do I feel so on edge?

I considered last night, the way that she had fallen asleep in my arms. I remembered just holding her close to me, feeling the beat of her heart beneath my fingertips, before drifting off to the sound of her steady breath. I hadn't been sleeping well since the villains captured me. With her by my side though, I'd had a dreamless night of peace. She was my weakness and yet, she was also somehow my strength. I loved her in a way that scared me but the thrill of it made me keep coming back to her time and time again. This time I wasn't going to fuck it up. I couldn't lose her again because of my own stubborn pride.

I had been staring at the TV for a while now but since I had been so deep in thought, I hadn't registered what we were actually watching. The commercial break ended and what appeared to be the darkened outline of a cartoon character popped up on the screen.

"What the fuck is this?" I snapped at Kaminari, who was sitting on the couch closest to the TV, leaning in as though he was completely invested in whatever this bullshit was.

"It's Caterpie!" The idiot shouted.

Tape arms, who was sitting beside him, shook his head and scoffed. "No, you dumbass. It's obviously Onix."

"Awww man, well they look the same pretty much!" Kaminari whined as 'Onix' appeared across the screen and the image of a rock snake looking creature materialized to fill in the cartoon outline.

"You for sure would have been able to guess that Pokemon if it was Pikachu," Sero snickered, shooting me a look as though we were enjoying the camaraderie of an inside joke.

"You're both fucking idiots," I mumbled, crossing my arms and leaning back as I put a foot up on the coffee table in front of me, glancing towards the front door for what felt like the hundredth time.

"Hey Bakugo, you wanna go to the gym with me?"

I looked over my shoulder to find Kirishima standing behind the couch. He had a towel slung over his shoulder and was wearing a white tanktop that said, 'Sun's out, guns out' in bold black letters and black athletic shorts.

"Might help to do something besides stare at the door." He said with a grin.

Narrowing my eyes at him, I was about to make a smart ass remark when the front door swung open. We both turned towards the sound and I felt my jaw clench as that purple haired bastard walked in like he owned the place.

"Hey, isn't that the guy that Midoriya fought at the sports festival?" Sero asked.

My feet slammed into the ground as I stood up and began marching towards him. I heard Kirishima call something out in protest but I ignored him as I approached the boy. He seemed unbothered when he noticed me stomping his way which pissed me off even more.

"What the fuck do you want?" I growled.

"I came to check in on her." He said. "You're acting as though that's completely out of the question for somebody that's been in her life a hell of a lot longer than you have."

"Tch." I clicked my tongue as I shoved my hands into my pockets, trying to stop them from doing something impulsive.

"But since I'm assuming she's not here, I wanted to talk to you." His voice was even and monotone, making it seem as though he didn't care one way or the other whether I agreed to speak with him or not, but I was beginning to realize that it was just how his voice sounded in general.
